Question:
I am looking at plug and play trailer wiring kit for my 2026 Kia Sportage EX. Due to this still being under warranty I would need something that would not cut or damage any wiring in the vehicle. Could you help me out on trying to find a product that would work best. Thank you!

Hello Nolan,
Welcome to etrailer, I'm glad you found us!
I completely understand wanting to protect your warranty on a new vehicle. At this time, there isn't a plug-and-play trailer wiring harness available for the 2026 Kia Sportage EX. The only option we currently offer is the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C59236.
The Curt # C59236 does require hardwiring into your vehicle's tail light wiring, so it isn't a plug-and-play installation. That said, installing an aftermarket part does not automatically void your vehicle's warranty. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, the manufacturer would have to show that the aftermarket part or its installation caused a problem before they could deny warranty coverage for that specific repair. I attached an install video so you can see exactly how the wiring is installed.
I am sure there will be a plug-n-play option in the future, I wish I could give you some kind of timeline on when that would be, but we don't know until they are released.
If you need a great hitch to pair the wiring with, I really like our etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e38KR. The matte black finish gives it a nice OEM look. I attached a picture so you can see exactly where it will sit on the Sportage after installed.
What do you plan on using the wiring for?

Hi Kate, Is there an alternative as my vehicle is a lease and I know that there is wiring kits that plug into the vehicle's headlights that then run wires down to the trailer. Would you sell anything like that for the 2026 Kia Sportage? Also, would this wiring kit be suitable for a jet ski trailer as it has the possibility of water hitting the wires? Thank you!

It’s is easy to install. You can just tap connections to your tail lights if your trailer have LED lights otherwise you will need to run the power all the way to your battery.
