Galvanized Steel
Galvanized steel parts are hot-dipped in zinc after being stamped. This creates a coating that is typically 3 mil to 5 mil thick. This thick, all-around coating allows galvanized steel products to provide years of use without rusting or corroding.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the CE Smith U-Bolt. The heavy-duty square U-bolt's going to let you secure a bracket to your boat trailer. This is designed for use with bolster or bunk board brackets that have 3/8-inch diameter holes or 3/8-inch wide mounting slots. It can be used for a variety of applications, though. It's going to be made from a galvanized steel, so it's going to do a great job at resisting rust and corrosion, which makes it suitable for saltwater exposure. It's going to include one U-bolt, and it's going to come with the mounting hardware, which is going to include two nuts and two lock washers.
The product's made right here in the USA. We're going to take a look at a few measurements starting with the length right here from the bottom of that crossbar right there to the end of the threaded portion. That's going to give a measurement of 3-9/16 inch. The bolt size is going to be 3/8 inch x 16. The first number indicates the diameter of each bolt or stud, and then the second number is going to be the thread pitch. The threaded portion, that's going to give us a measurement of about 1-3/4 inch long.
If we take a measurement of the inner width, basically measuring just the opening size, it's going to be 1-5/8 inch. Then if we measure the distance that we have center-on-center between the two, it's going to measure right on 2 inches. That's going to do it for today's look at the CE Smith U-Bolt.

I bought a 2007 16' Carolina Skiff for $3500 back in December. The dealer said there was nothing at all wrong with it and he went over it and winterized it. I finally got around to putting it in the water and saw that the bunk boards were in terrible shape, with one side rail guide-on falling off. I took it to a marina repair shop and was told it would be cheaper to buy a new trailer instead of replacing the bunk boards. I contacted Ashley at etrailer about buying a set of bunk boards and all of the brackets and hardware for it. $370.00 later I had a full set of bunk boards and guide-ons being shipped to me. I don't think I could find a new trailer for that price. It took longer to remove the old ones than it did to put the new ones on. About 3 hrs later I had a new trailer. These bunk boards and guide-ons fit my boat and trailer perfectly.

Good quality product! Arrived earlier than expected
My jetski trailer needed new bunks and hardware, I called these guys to verify what I needed. They hooked my up with good quality parts. I do wish however they would have included the lag screws needed for the bunks.
I'm not a trailer person but I found "etrailer's" website informative enough to know what I needed. I also had the benefit of an etrailer staff member who knew his products and thus able to make sure I bought the correct pieces. The plus was when the items arrived much sooner than the shipping time they quoted. I have not yet installed the items but hope to do it this week. Excellent source to buy quality trailer parts.

Used these as part of a full boat trailer rebuild. They were sized perfectly and of very high quality. After a year of use these are performing excellently.
As usual, after trying to locate a product closer to home, I find myself falling back on etrailer for my needs. They get things shipped out quickly and the videos are a great help.
