Curt Hitch Anti-Rattle - Standard Anti-Rattle - C69HR Review

Cameraman All right. Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Curt Anti-Rattle Kit for the hollow shank accessories on a 2" hitch. Now this kit will stop rattling and vibration of a hollow shank accessory or ball mount, when it's mounted in your two inch hitch receiver. Basically you'll insert this bracket into the shank, secure it with the spreading pin, the pin will pull the shank tightly against the receiver to limit the rattle. And then on this end you'll have the grooved area that your clip will clip on to hold it into place.

Just want to demonstrate how these pieces work. So we happened to pull here. I'm going to show you, here's a 2" hitch receiver and I have a ball mount in there. And as I mentioned, you can use this on a ball mount or a hitch accessory, as long as it's a hollow shank. So right now, if you notice this ball mount, you can see if I saw a pin in there was just a standard pin and clip, And you can see how it's going to rattle, bounce around, move around, make a lot of noise.

So what you'll do is just take out your normal pin and clip, slide your ball mount out, or your hitch accessory, and you can see make sure it's a hollow shank. And then what you'll do is you'll take this portion here that has the threaded nut on it. And you'll go ahead and slide that in until it lines up with the hole, just like that. And then go ahead and slide it right back in and get it to line up from the side and then take your shank portion, put that in on the side. And then take your threaded pin, slide it through everything and including the shank.

And then go ahead and just start tightening it down. And as you're tightening it down what it's doing is it's pulling the shank up against your hitch receiver. And once you get it all the way and then snug it you'll notice a big difference. Now does the head size on this is either a 15/16", or a 24 millimeter. So I'll take my socket, let me go ahead and tighten it down.

You could see just go ahead and snug it up. You don't have to over tighten it, just snug it. Take your clip to secure it, put it on this end, push your clip down. And now it's all secure in there, and then you'll notice it's not even moving at all. There's no movement, no noise, no rattling that you can hear, and that's just snugged up. And then, you can be towing and you won't get that rattle. And then when you're ready to remove it, just go ahead and pull your clip out, take your ratchet socket, go ahead and break it loose. And once you break that loose, all you have to do is spin that out. Once it comes out, slide your shank out, slide the pin up, and then when you slide this whole thing out, and there's your inside portion. So the little simple thing like that will help eliminate a lot of noise and rattle for ya. Now, this is constructed of a high strength steel. It is protected. You can see all the parts are protected by a durable yellow zinc plated finish. This is designed to fit a 2" hitch receiver with a 5/8" pin hole. But that should do it for the review on the Curt Anti-Rattle Kit, for the hollow shank accessories on a two-inch hitch..

Why does an "instruction" video not show both sides of the installation? Duh.
