RV AC Unit Recommendation for 2011 Palomino Sabre Silhouette 320fqds

Question:
Good afternoon I need to replace my ac unit on my camper. 2011 palomina Sabre silhouette 320fqds. It is a ducked unit in it now supply 3 rooms. When looking up the ac on your web site it says I need a 13,000btu unit. I in the camper now is a Dometic 459516.701C0 15,000btu. I want to replace it with a complete unit to include a thermostat and new vent cover and needed hardware. I also have a gas furnace not sure what it is running on same thermostat. What do you recommend for that?

This was designed for ducted setups like you have, blows the coldest, is the quietest, and also draws lowest power as well. It also comes with a new thermostat and air box as well as everything needed to install and is compatible with furnaces likes you have as well. This is actually an 18k BTU unit but that just means it would have as much cooling power as needed and since it's a variable speed compressor it wouldn't be running super hard all the time if not needed.

> is compatible with furnaces likes you have as well. Well, not really. Furrion has a lot of issues running a standard RV furnace with their Chill Cube thermostat. First, and worst, the Cube will always run it's fans when the furnace is in operation. The manual says there's a "silent" fan mode when in HEAT mode, but far from it. When the Cube runs its fans, all the airflow goes through the roof unit, which is outside in the cold, so there goes a lot of your heat. It should just get out of the way and let the furnace do its own air handling. Second, the thermostat's AUTO mode is useless. You can not set different heat/cool temperatures (i.e. heat when under 65 degrees, cool when above 80). It only supports a single setpoint when used with a standard RV furnace. Third, if you boondock run on battery, the factory wiring instructions won't work for you. They tell you to wire it so the thermostat gets 12 V from the ADB, but without 120 VAC the ADB won't provide any power to the thermostat. So, you have to power the thermostat from a different 12 VDC source. But then the thermostat will flash an error when set to anything other than HEAT. Fourth, the remote is basically useless for heating. It will not switch the thermostat to heat mode and you can not use the "follow me" feature. There are a lot of other issues, but that's enough for now.
