Adding Brakes To A Dexter #9 Torflex Torsion Axle

Hello, I have a 2,000 lb. 9 Dexter® Torflex® Rubber Torsion Suspension Trailer Axle Beam, can you please recommend which electronic breaks and drum fit? Thanks

Hi Isai!
I can definitely get you what you are needing! To start with, you will want the Dexter Electric Trailer Brakes - 7" - Left/Right Hand Assemblies - 2,000 lbs to 2,200 lbs # 23-47-48. This includes both right and left brake assemblies and will cover one axle (if you have 2 axles, you will need to order 2 sets). They include all the mounting hardware and as it is truly a Dexter part, it is also American made.
The 2,000 pound Dexter #9 Torflex axle uses their heavy duty spindle, so you will want the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for Hydraulic Brakes - 2,000-lb E-Z Lube Axles - 5 on 4-1/2 # 8-271-7UC3-EZ. Just keep in mind this is only sold as a single hub/drum, so you will need to grab two to cover one axle (or four if you have two axles).
One other thing to note though, not all the 2,000 pound Torflex axle came from the from Dexter with a brake mounting flange (the vast majority actually didn't). If you do not have that flange on your axle, you will need to have the Brake Mounting Flange for 1-3/4" Round Trailer Axles - 2K # 4-34 professionally welded on. It really does need to be in the exact correct place or you can get very inconsistent braking. Any trailer shop can get this done for you, but it is something I figured needed to be mentioned. Now if you already had brakes on the axle before and these are just replacements, you can skip that part.
On that note, what kind of trailer do you have? Seems like we are start to not see this axle as much as we used to.
