Just got a new 2026 Crosstrek Wilderness. Looking for the best hitch. and a good brake controller. So far i have it narrowed to: curt controller discovery next and curt 13634 hitch....C54GJ ?

Hey Jerry, welcome back! The Curt Trailer Hitch # C54GJ is the best option and specifically designed for Wilderness models, great choice! Since you want to add a brake controller, you will also need the Curt # C56040 and the # ETBC7 for your wiring. This is everything you need to add a 7-way to your vehicle.
Then for a brake controller, I would steer clear of a time-delayed model. You want a proportional brake controller for smooth, reliable braking. This also means less wear on the vehicle and trailer brakes. Without a doubt, the best option is the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED52VR. This brake controller won't take up space in the cab, and the knob will have an OEM look in your nice new Crosstrek. See the attached photo.

Hi. I had the hitch, redarc controller and all my wiring to 7way done today. I got home and backed up to my teardrop. Plugged in, and all my lights work fine. I did not notice an led light on the redac knob. It actually does not feel like the button is pushing in, while I tried that feature... Ill hook it up tomorrow and do a test run, see if the trailer brakes are coming on and test out the controller... Jerry
