This CURT Class III trailer hitch receiver gives you the flexibility to tow and haul what you need. With a 3,500 lbs gross trailer weight capacity and 525 lbs tongue weight rating, it’s plenty for small boats, campers, or utility trailers. The 2" receiver opening fits most hitch-mounted gear, so you can easily attach bike racks or cargo carriers when you’re heading out for an adventure or need extra space for work or travel.

I have not yet installed this / put it to the test BUT I want to comment on a major concern I had upon placing my order, namely, the condition I should expect upon receipt. It's a heavy steel product and I had encountered numerous reviews of similar products ordered from etrailer that were received in bad shape / scraped up, requiring repair / repainting etc so that future exposure to the elements would not bring on rust. I was so concerned that upon receipt of notice that it had shipped, I called the author of the notice at etrailer, WilliamS, to express my concern. I have to say, Will's response was flip and extremely UNreassuring ... he basically said (sarcastically) whaddya expect when etrailer is shipping over 3,000 of these per day (really???) in a cardboard box, failure was bound to occur ... he said it happens 3% of the time. Not at all reassuring. So I am relieved to say that the product came through in excellent shape with only one small puncture in the cardboard box. Kudos to Kolton A, who is listed in the tracking as having packaged the product. I am extremely relieved.
The hitch itself is perfect, minus the damaged paint from shipping and poor packing. I have yet to install it as we have not taken delivery of our new Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness yet so I will update on that. The reason for the two stars is for the packaging and shipping. etrailer packed the hitch into the box with ABSOLUTELY NO packing material whatsoever so a portion of the hitch ripped through the box. You can see where UPS attempted to tape the tear in the box but the hitch still came damaged. I love etrailer but this is a fail on their part especially since it would’ve taken all of what 5, 10 minutes at the most to package and wrap AT MINIMUM the ends of the hitch where it would’ve potentially ripped through the box or received damage as mine has. Mind you the damage is limited to scratching of the paint down to the metal but it’s the principal behind the fact that one is paying $200+ for an item. You kind of wish it to be received undamaged.

There is some drilling and fishwiring required if you install this. The marketing/product list says 'bolt on' or something. It's not quite that simple.

Solid product (I think my third hitch from e-trailer). Only comment, installation is pretty straightforward, but on the Crosstrek Wilderness, you will need a small grinder ( e.g. Dremel tool, or maybe rat tail file) to cut notches into the car frame. All good, it’s covered in the installation instructions, but not mentioned on the order page.
The flat plate that holds the carriage bolt needs to be longer. It does not catch the sides, and allows the carriage bolt to free spin. I had to use an impact to tighten it, then go back and check torque several times to get it close.
Looks like good quality. All parts and instructions were with it. The customer service representative, Rochelle, is Outstanding!!! And very knowledgeable not mention friendly. As far the product goes, it’s January in NE. So I haven’t been able to install it yet. I was surprised that it was shipped the same day.
As always, everything I get from e-trail fits like it should and goes on without issue. Love these guys.

Easy install and great directions for Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness 2025
This hitch is great. You barely have to enlarge the access holes. I used a die grinder. It came with the wires for fishing the hardware. It took me about 30 minutes to install the hitch. The hitch is tucked up nice and tight to the car. Engineered perfectly. The finish is really smooth and nice. I would highly recommend it.

This is the second hitch for a crosstrek. The hitch gets 4 stars rather than 5 for only one (irritating) reason:
There are two spacers used on the two front bolts but etrailer ships all 4 bolts just barely long enough for use WITHOUT the spacers.
If etrailer wants 5 out of 5 stars, ship two bolts 3/8 longer than the others.
I had to use a dental pick to hold the bolt in place while attempting to start the nut. If the bolt had pushed back into the "frame" I would have been super super angry.
This is not an expensive fix.
The fit was perfect for my wife's 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness. The provided instructions plus the video made installation easy. You do need a step bit on hand to widen the front most hole, but even with that the entire process took about 35 minutes with 2 people. It would have been very difficult without a second set of hands.
2026 Subaru CrossTrek Wilderness Edition (non-hybryd). This hitch is a perfect fit for this vehicle and is easily a one person job. The installation videos are spot on. My driveway slopes down slightly so I backed the car in giving it just a higher angle in the rear. I'm 5'9" 200lbs and was able to easily install this alone and without needing to lift the car in any way. It took me 50 minutes and I took my time. Make sure you widen the access hole enough to easily pass the bolt and space through. Tape the other spacers to the hitch as recommended in the video. I used a metal drywall spatula to remove excess glue from the frame. Feed all the bolts and spacers into place before starting. The hitch arms need to go over the exhaust so make sure that is positioned correctly. Once in place, I used two small jack stands to hold the hitch in place. The two bolts at the end closest to the rear of the vehicle are just the right length but take your time when unthreading the guide wire so you don't lose the screw in the frame. I used needle nose pliers to hold them in place while I threaded the nut on.
