Question:

I tow my 2022 Grand Design Transcend xplor 265 BH with a 2024 Silverado Custom Trail Boss. I am looking for a system that will serve as both a camera monitoring system while towing and as a backup camera. Is there a particular model you feel would work best for me?

Hey Eric! Furrion is definitely the way to go for a camera system that can do both. However, instead of the Vision S you looked at you want the new Vision S+ # FR69DF (5" monitor) or # FR64AD (7" monitor).

The S+ has better performance overall, and since it is the latest version you won't have to worry about finding parts if something gets damaged or fails. The Vision S has been phased out so parts are no longer available, and the cameras aren't backwards compatible.

Any big trips coming up with your Transcend once you add the camera system?

I’m thinking this system will make longer trips less stressful. Will this system need any additional wiring for my Transcend or Silverado?

@EricW I'm assuming you already have some kind of prep on the back for a camera. Almost all Grand Designs are set up for Furrion, so you probably have that sharkfin mount with 12V for the main camera. The side marker cameras replace the marker lights so you will have wire there already as well. You might be prepped for these too, I'm not sure on your particular model. It is a wireless system so you only need to plug it in in the cab of your Silverado. You can use USB or the 12V outlet if you have one.

@RobinH. Several of the reviews have mentioned screen lag when driving and needing the side cameras. Is there anything that can prevent this? Do they have a sensor so they are kind of like a blind spot mirror sensor?
