How to Power the Furrion Vision S+ Cameras to Work in Security Mode

Updated 01/05/2026 | Published 12/28/2025

Question:

We are needing to upgrade our backup camera. We have been looking at the Furrion S+ observation system 3 camera model. I know the monitor can be operated inside the RV using a usb connection. However, no one has explained how the outside cameras are powered when using in the security mode. Please adive.

Hey Liz. The cameras of the Furrion Vision S+ item # FR64AD will need to be wired directly to a constant 12v power source, like your Grand Design's batteries, to use them in the security mode. With the infrared lights on each camera will pull less than .35 amps of power. During the day or if you're not using the IR they'll pull .2 amps.

Did your Grand Design come prewired for a camera system?

Our camper did come with a backup camera. We were just trying to decide if the S+ observation can be used inside. Per your email it cannot. Thank you for your assistance.

@LizP My email didn't say that. The camera's can definitely can be used inside. You just have to wire them directly to the battery for them to work in security mode. Check out the Furrion Vision S+ Wireless RV Observation System w/ 4 Cameras - 7" Screen item # FR74AD. It comes with an additional observation camera that is commonly mounted inside the camper. You get the 7" monitor, a backup camera, the two side cameras, and the additional observation camera you can install where ever you want.

@JerredH Misread your email. However, if I am understand - the only way to use the outside camera's as a "security system" would be to leave our running lights on all the time. Please advise if that is correct.

@Liz The cameras included with the Furrion Vision S+ item # FR64AD will need to be wired directly to your camper's battery so they're always powered. With the infrared lights on each camera will pull less than .35 amps of power. During the day or if you're not using the IR they'll pull .2 amps. This will not be enough of a power draw to drain your battery.
