Question:
Hello Jerred, like Kenny we started our search considering both vehicles. We ended up choosing the 2025 Canyon AT4, not the ATX. Is there a base plate that will work for that truck? We currently have a Blue Ox tow bar that we plan on using. Any advice/direction would be greatly appreciated.

There sure is Vince and congrats on the new truck! Since you're using a Blue Ox tow bar to flat to your 2025 GMC Canyon AT4, you'll need the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit item # BLU85CR. This baseplate is compatible with the AT4 model front grille. I attached a couple of pictures below so you can see what it'll look like installed.
Please note that this baseplate kit will not fit if you have the off-road bumper installed.
Here are the rest of the parts you'll need to flat tow your 2025 GMC Canyon AT4:
Wiring Harness - Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles - 7-Way to 6-Way Coiled Adapter Cord item # RM-15267
Battery Disconnect - Roadmaster Battery Disconnect for Towed Vehicle w/ Flat Tow Brake System item # RM-766
Supplemental Braking System - SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System item # SM99251 or item # SM99243 if your motorhome has air brakes
What kind of motorhome do you have and what other parts did you hold onto from your previous flat tow?

Hi Vince - I have the AT4x and Blue ox setup. It is very confusing and unfortunately Blue Ox isn’t the expert on vehicle variants and models. Blue ox WILL work on the AT4x and AT4. They have the exact same bumper and front fascia. What Blue ox is saying No to is the AT4X AEV edition; The AEV edition has a metal bumper and a winch plate up front to mount a winch so that a no go but the regular AT4x model it works fine. I am my Motorhome now replying to you with my AT4x outside?? hope this helps clear up the confusion for you.

Thank you for the reply Jerred. First, I don’t see any photos attached. Second, I trust your advice but I will say I called Blue Ox direct and they said there was no base kit for the AT4 model. Given that fact I’m quite confused. Can you clarify if they were mistaken? As for your questions, we’ve never flat towed before so we didn’t have any parts to keep. I purchased what I do have from a gentleman in my area. He sold me the Blue Ox tow bar, a Brake Buddy 2 brake controller, a breakaway cable and all of the wiring that he had from his setup. We currently have a 2007 Holiday Rambler Ambassador 40’ diesel pusher. Looking forward to reading your response and seeing a few photos. Also, do you have a link to any videos that would help walk me through the installation of the base kit? Thx in advance
