This setup keeps things clean when you’re not towing. The hidden design means no bulky brackets sticking out past the bumper, and the arms twist out quickly for a smooth, factory-style look. When the arms are off, snap in the receiver covers to keep dirt out and maintain that finished appearance. It’s a small touch that makes a big difference every time you walk by.
Each arm slides into the base plate receivers, rotates to lock, and secures with a simple pin—no tools or wrestling required. The design makes it easy to connect your tow bar solo, even in tight spaces. Once you’re done towing, just pull the pin, twist to release, and remove the arms. The process is quick and solid every time.
The base plate bolts directly to the chassis for a secure fit—no welding needed. Its sturdy design spreads towing forces evenly across the frame to help protect your suspension and other components on long hauls. The durable steel construction with a rust-resistant powder-coat finish is designed to hold up through years of cross-country towing.
If you already own a tow bar setup, this kit keeps things flexible. It connects directly with Blue Ox tow bars for a secure match and can adapt to Roadmaster or Demco systems with the correct adapter (RM-031, RM-031-5, or DM9523041, sold separately). That means you can build your flat towing setup around parts you already trust without starting from scratch.
This base plate kit comes ready to bolt on using the supplied mounting hardware—no welding required. Integrated mounting points let you add an electrical connector bracket if you choose (sold separately), keeping your wiring neat up front. With clear instructions and basic tools, it’s a job most DIYers can tackle confidently over a weekend project.

Has worked perfectly with 5,000+ towing miles on our 2023 GMC Canyon AT4 in the past 12 months. Installation required removal of the front facia which was a little tricky and time consuming but not terribly difficult for the DIY'er.

Installed this baseplate myself with no assistant. 2023 was a complete makeover for the Colorado/Canyon twins. This meant the baseplate was also newly engineered by Blue Ox. As usual the build, fit and finish for this base plate was excelent.
The handfull of difficult areas in install were all related to disasembly of vehicle components, particularly the seperation of the grill assembly from fenders, be carefull to not break any of the 3 clips on each side. Also, if you have large hands, a few fasteners are in very tight spaces. I ended up using electrical tape to attach fastener to socket.
It has been on a year now. still looks great and has well over 4000 miles of flawless performance. Paired with a Blue Ox Avail tow bar, behind a 40 ft diesel pusher.

Whole kit was just what I needed. Installation went easy and first time we flat towed our new car went without a problem.
Everything fit great and the instructions where clear on how to install.
Fit was great no cutting required. The safety cables were hard to install because the rubber coating would not allow them to slide over each other.
Hardest part of the installation was finding the location of the 77 mm head screws so the facia could be removed. Blue Ox instruction did not clearly show the location of the screws (bad pictures)
I had to slightly modify mounting holes as they did not line up with the vehicle. This is the 7th base plate I have installed on various cars and trucks and by far the most challenging.
This was instilled on a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 truck. I watched your video online with this exact model truck and the words I remember most was “and we did not have to do any trimming”. Well my truck was certainly different than what was on video. Guess it’s because it’s a late build 2024 (end of September 2024) and the grill system was maybe what would appear on the 2025 models? There was lots of trimming involved. I also will tell you the mounting holes both for the frame and the bumper back plate did not line up and required some modifications to fit. I would like to say this job is not for the faint of heart. I luckily have a mechanical/machinist background so was able to get the job done. Have not tested it yet but will be soon. Good luck to those of you who are planning on installing it yourself. Just remember it can be done. Just take your time.

It has been a good system. I would still give it 4 stars a year later just because it was a difficult job to install. Not for the faint of heart. So far have about 6k miles of towing with it. Would I do it again….Yes as it was worth the effort.
