What Converter Can I Upgrade To That Will Handle A 200Ah Battery?

Updated 05/12/2026 | Published 05/09/2026

Question:

I have a 2022 GeoPro 19fd with a 190W Solar panel, a 1000W inverter, a Go Power solar controller, and a WFCO WF 8735P power converter. I will be adding a 200Ah battery. Can I get by with the WF 46FR which will fit where the current converter is, or do I need the 55A converter which I will have to find a different location for?

Hi Tim,

If you're wanting to upgrade after adding a 200Ah battery, the WFCO Auto Detect RV Converter AC/DC Distribution Panel - 40 Amp part # WF46FR would be a great upgrade from your current 35 Amp converter. I wouldn't recommend upgrading to the 55 Amp because you will need to upgrade the wiring as well due to the larger change in amperage. The 40 Amp system will still work with your current wiring though. Based off of the dimensions on WFCO's website, 10 3/8" s 6 7/8" x 4 5/16", the 35 Amp and 40 Amp systems have the same dimensions so the WF46FR will directly replace your current unit without needing to modify or relocate the converter.

What appliances do you usually run off your solar system?
