Features to know about

Reliable Charging Where Older RV Converters Fall Short

Closed unit

Many RV owners upgrade their power center because the factory converter never charged batteries the way it should. Slow recovery times and batteries that never quite reach full are common signs. The WFCO Power Center is designed to fix that by using charging profiles matched to your battery type. Lead-acid batteries receive true 3-stage charging with higher voltage during bulk charging, then step down to normal, and trickle/float stages as they recover. Lithium batteries follow a two-stage process designed for faster, more consistent charging. The result is quicker recharge times and less day-to-day strain on your batteries, helping them last longer and perform more reliably.

Does This Power Center Automatically Detect Lithium Batteries?

Upgrading to lithium batteries is usually about better performance and long-term value, not extra complexity. This power center uses WFCO's Auto-Detect technology to recognize lithium or lead-acid batteries and apply the correct charging profile automatically. There are no switches to set and no settings to guess at. Once installed, it charges your batteries the way they are designed to be charged, helping you get the faster recovery, longer service life, and consistent performance that make lithium a worthwhile upgrade for your RV.

One Tidy AC/DC Power Center for Higher-Demand RVs

Open door

Instead of juggling separate components, the WFCO Power Center combines your AC breaker panel, DC fuse block, and converter into one integrated unit. This larger 55-amp design provides additional capacity for RVs running higher-demand equipment. With 10 AC circuits, and 11 DC circuits (including two 30-amp), it's well suited for appliances like slide-outs, refrigerators, and other high-draw systems, along with everyday outlets, lighting, and onboard electronics. The power center accepts standard residential breakers and automotive fuses (not included). You can check the product manual for recommended brands and styles, which are easy to find and purchase from most hardware or RV stores.

What Safety Protections Does This RV Power Center Have?

Electrical upgrades only bring peace of mind if they operate safely day after day. This power center is built with protections against overheating, over-current conditions, and reverse polarity connections, so a wiring mistake or heavy load doesn't turn into a bigger problem. LED indicator lights provide quick visual feedback to help identify power and fault conditions, making it easier to spot issues during troubleshooting. The cooling fan is designed to pull air in and exhaust it out the front of the unit, which helps move heat away from the components instead of letting it build up behind the panel. That matters in tight RV compartments where airflow is limited. If operating limits are ever exceeded, the system can shut itself down to protect the electronics. It's built-in safety that's reassuring when you're upgrading battery types or replacing an older converter that didn't manage heat nearly as well.

Is This a Direct Replacement for My RV Power Center?

Rear with transfer switch mount

This WF-8955 power center is designed for RVs that need more electrical capacity than smaller factory-installed panels. It commonly replaces larger WFCO power centers and can also be used as an upgrade or replacement for other brands with similar layouts and load requirements. The rear mounting location for a transfer switch helps keep upgrades organized and accessible. Because this is a physically larger unit, it's important to verify cutout dimensions, wiring, and available space before installing. Some installations may require minor adjustments depending on the original setup. If you'd rather leave the job to a professional, you can use etrailer's installer locator to find a qualified shop near you and get help with installation.

Great product and great service

by:

Easy to install. Very little modification to the installation opening. Installed in an Aliner Columbia. Works great!

by:

It was plugged and play, works great so far.

by:

The product was a replacement and upgrade and worked perfectly. Siobhan did an excellent job helping me navigate the choices and got the converter delivered to me on time for me to install before my trip. Frosty beverages of choice for her! Thank you!!

by:

Item arrived quickly and in good shape. Other than having to slightly increase the mounting location it installed easily and works great. I like how the cooling fan only runs when it's needed and not constantly like the old unit.

by:

Does the job. Installation takes some time, but this is a direct replacement for the WF-8735 (non-lithium), so it's just a matter of disconnecting/reconnecting wires. Same exact size too, so it screws into the same holes. Only negative is this one has a small green light that always stays on, so if your converter is in a very visible location, it may annoy you at night.

by:

A drop-in replacement for the original. The new converter auto detects the battery type and adapts the charging protocol. Now, my 190AH LiFePo battery fully charges.

by:

It was a perfect match to my old one! Just plug and play couldn't have been easier

by:

Direct replacement/upgrade to what i had. E-trailer is always tops.

  • Will The 55A WF86FR Converter Power Center Charge My RV Batteries Faster Than The 40A Model?
Good question, Tyler. Yes - the WFCO RV converter power center # WF86FR 55A will recharge a battery bank faster than the # WF46FR 40A, especially during bulk charging. That said, the difference is most noticeable when: -You’re running dual batteries -You’re using lithium -You’re trying to recharge quickly during short generator/shore power runs If you’re mostly plugged into shore power and running one battery, you likely won’t see a dramatic difference since it doesn't take a crazy amount...

  • Can I replace my Progressive Dynamics power center with a new WFCO unit?
Hey Jeff - yes, you absolutely can switch brands as long as you match the service rating and verify the cutout size so you don't have to make big changes to the cutout (trimming or filling a gap). All three of these models you were looking at - # WF46FR 40A horizontal, # WF86FR 55A horizontal, and # WFC72GR 40A vertical - are designed for standard 30A shore power setups. Not the heavier duty 50A found in bigger RVs. I recommend checking your cabinet opening size and orientation so you...

  • How To Measure And Find Which WFCO AC/DC Fuse Box And Converter Is Needed For Travel Trailer
Hey there Kevin, if you’re trying to avoid trimming or adding filler panels, matching orientation is the safest move, and it really comes down to checking the cutout size or the model converter you currently have. If your current panel is vertical (taller than wide), the # WFC72GR 40A is a common size, fitting a cutout of 7 13/16" Wide x 11 5/16" tall x 7 3/8" deep. If it’s more standard horizontal setup (wider than tall), then the # WF86FR 55A is a common size, fitting a cutout of 12-3/16"...

  • Looking for Replacement Converter Panel for 2005 Gulf Shore Cavalier
Hey Dee, we have the WFCO 8955 panel and converter with the part # WF86FR. This would be basically an exact replacement for what you have but also is the current/updated version that is compatible with more battery types. Did you panel get damaged?

  • Availability of Top Part of Parallax 7355
Hi Anthony; the Progressive Dynamics Replacement Section # PD4655V is the only replacement part available for your Parallax 7355. For the top section with the breakers you will have to replace the entire power center. I recommend using the WFCO Auto Detect RV Converter and AC/DC Distribution Panel # WF86FR which matches what you have at 55 amps and is lithium compatible if you need it. What happened to your Parallax?

  • If My RV Lithium Battery Bank Is 300AH 12V, Is 40A Converter / Power Panel Enough?
Good morning Dana. With a 300Ah lithium bank, a 40A converter / power panel like the one in the WFCO # WFC72GR will work - but recharge times will be longer compared to a higher-output unit. It really depends on what battery bank you have, and if you plan to stay hooked up to shore power or use a generator for a few hours where the batteries will need to charge up quickly. If your cabinet allows for the larger horizontal opening, the # WF86FR 55A will recharge a larger battery bank noticeably...

  • Can the WFCO Converter and Distribution Panel WF86FR Be Rewired to Isolate it From the Inverter?
You sure can Jim! You can definitely rewire the AC input to the WFCO Auto Detect RV Converter and AC/DC Distribution Panel item # WF86FR to isolate it from your inverter by installing an automatic transfer switch. For a 3,000 watt inverter, I recommend the Victron MultiPlus-II Inverter Charger item # VN43VR. Since the WFCO item # WF86FR is a 30 amp converter, you'll want the Go Power Automatic Transfer Switch item # 34264403. We also have the Go Power ASW Series Advanced Sine Wave...

  • Which WFCO RV Converter Power Center Can Handle More DC Circuits With Added Fuse Slots? 30A Shore
Hello Ryan, that’s where the WFCO rv converter / power distribution panel # WFC72GR really stands out. While both the # WF46FR and # WF86FR give you standard AC/DC distribution, the # WFC72GR provides: -13 DC circuits (3 at 30A max, 10 at 20A max) -Up to 9 AC branch circuits, 1 main 30a AC circuit. It’s designed for builds that need more circuits like in your situation. Just note it has a different footprint than the others - rough opening is 7-13/16 inch Wide x 11-5/16 inch Tall x 7-3/8...

  • Do WFCO RV Converter Power Center Panels Work With Lithium?
Hey Daniel! That’s one of the benefits of these newer WFCO Auto-Detect panels. You won't need to replace anything again since they are compatible with lithium. The new models like # WF46FR, # WF86FR, and # WFC72GR all automatically detect lithium batteries and apply the proper charging profile. No switches or internal settings required. If you’re planning a larger bank 200Ah+, you may eventually wish you had gone with the 55A model for faster recovery - but functionally, the 40A unit...

  • Is 55 Amp Charger Power Center Overkill For Camper That Has A Single 12V Lead Acid Battery?
Hey there Melissa - if you’re running a single battery and mostly stay on shore power, the # WF46FR (40A) is usually more than enough. The # WF86FR (55A) won’t hurt anything, but you likely won’t benefit much from the extra charging capacity unless you’re trying to recharge faster during short generator runs or planning to add more battery capacity later (such as 2 or 3 12v batteries wired in parallel to get more capacity). If your cabinet opening can fit either one, then the decision...

  • Outlets In Jayco Camper Work But Batteries Aren't Charging. Does It Need New Distribution Panel?
Hello Brandon, that’s a classic failing-converter symptom inside the power center, assuming the batteries and battery cables themselves have been checked and are in good working order. If your AC outlets are working but the battery voltage isn’t rising when you’re plugged into shore power, the converter section inside the panel is likely failing. Since these are integrated power centers, replacing the entire unit is usually the most reliable long-term fix rather than trying to repair internal...

Hey Kevin! With power centers, fitment matters just as much as amperage. • Switching To Lithium RV Batteries - Do WFCO Power Panels Handle That Automatically For Charging?
Good morning, Dana! Yes, you are in luck because the new models use WFCO’s Auto-Detect charging, making it compatible with: -Lead-acid (flooded and AGM) - 3-stage charging -Lithium - 2-stage charging up to 14.6V No switches. No settings. The converter monitors battery behavior and applies the proper profile automatically. Hi Senad! The WFCO Auto Detect RV Converter and AC/DC Distribution Panel part # WF86FR might work on your 2023 StarCraft Autumn Ridge, but the best way to know for sure is to match it to what’s currently installed. Most 2023 Autumn Ridge models came with WFCO power systems from the factory. Hi Brandon, with two 12V batteries wired in parallel, stepping up to the WFCO RV converter AC/DC power center # WF86FR 55A makes sense. The extra 15 amps of DC charging capacity helps recover the bank faster - especially if you need to charge quickly such as on short generator runs. One thing I'd check is your converter cutout space to make sure you won't have to do lots of trimming or modifications (sometimes it is inevitable though).
