LED Marker Light Upgrade for Horton Hauler Trailer

Question:

I have a 2015 Horton hauler trailer that is missing a few marker lights that are 1 wire 4 in wide and 1 1/4 tall with a 3” spacing for the screws. I am need of replacing some but if I can do led I would do the entire trailer. I have pics and a count if you can help Thanks Michael

Michael, you can use the Optronics LED Trailer Clearance and Side Marker Light with Reflex Reflector part # MCL44AB1 for your trailer, and since those 4 inch by about 1-1/2 inch lights with 3 inch mounting hole spacing are very common on Horton Haulers, this is a really solid, straightforward replacement. The mounting holes lining up is the big win here, so you will be able to swap them over cleanly and the slightly taller height won’t cause any issues as long as you’ve got normal clearance around the light.

I know the goal is to avoid anything that doesn’t fit right or leaves you dealing with gaps or water intrusion, and this is one of those tried and true options that’s used on a lot of trailers just like yours. It keeps the same single wire, self-grounding setup you already have, so wiring stays simple, and going LED across the whole trailer is a great call for better visibility and long-term reliability.

What kind of hauling are you usually doing with the Horton, and are you mostly on the highway or getting into rougher job site conditions?

Yes heather I can send the photos but it won't let me attach to this comment section. If you could send me a email I can send the pics and already have the quantity that I would like to order. It's 9 red for the back and 6 green for the front. this trailer will probably be a mix of job site and hwy use, mostly to move materials and furniture. Thanks for your help Michael

@MichaelT Michael, I’d be happy to take a look at those photos and help you get everything matched up, I will shoot you an email now. I do want to preface it with we’ve got you covered for the red markers for the rear, but for the front, green lights are where things get a little tricky. While green is common on boats, trailers that are used on the road are set up differently and typically use amber for the front to stay in line with standard lighting visibility. That’s why you don’t see many 4 inch rectangular green options with the same mounting pattern as what you have now. If you’re set on green, it would likely mean switching to a different style or making some modifications, but if you want a clean, bolt-on setup for both job site and highway use, I’d recommend sticking with amber up front and red in the rear.
