Taller Gooseneck Ball Recommendation for 2020 Ford F-350 with OEM Pucks

Updated 04/22/2026 | Published 04/18/2026

Question:

I have a 2020 f350 and I have the own puck hitch in it. I’m trying to find a taller ball that would possibly give me more clearance between the bed and under side of 5th wheel travel trailer. Would the Weigh Safe Safe Load Ball and Anchor Kit work with this issue? Or should I just buy the hitch yall have for sale that is I think it said a little over an inch taller? I have them change the hitch to a Gen Y hitch when I bought it. The trailer weights 16,430 lbs. thank you.

Hey Franklyn, we have the Gen-Y Dominator part # GY27TQ if you were wanting something taller that is also cushioned. It is brand new as of writing this but it will be available looks like around a month from now if you could wait and don't mind the higher price tag.

Otherwise, the Weigh Safe hitch ball part # WS74ZR would be a great option that sits up taller as well. The top of the ball would measure 8-3/8 inches above the truck bed so it's pretty tall. Do you have a cushioned Gen-Y gooseneck or the Nomad which isn't cushioned.

Thank you for the reply. I have THE EXECUTIVE FIFTH WHEEL-TO-GOOSENECK (TORSION-FLEX) PIN BOX. Would that work with either set up you recommend? Thank you.

@FranklynW It won't work with the Dominator as I found out today (Gen-Y was here) that you can't use it with a cushioned pin box. He said it creates a "rubber band" effect.

@JamesonC. Ok. That answers the question perfectly. I will give the weight safe ball a try. Any xtra clearance I can get is better than the clearance I have now. Thank you.
