Will Curt Hitch C99RV Fit A 2026 BMW X3 M50 With The M Sport Package?
Updated 04/27/2026 | Published 04/12/2026 >
Question:
Hello, I reviewed everything and it looks like it should work, but I’d like to confirm with you before purchasing. I have a BMW X3 M50 with the M Sport exterior package. It also has the hands-free trunk sensor foot-activated, which I understand may no longer function once the hitch is installed and I’m okay with that. My main concern is making sure the hitch can be installed properly on this model. I’m currently looking at the CURT Class 3 Trailer Hitch for BMW X3 C99RV. Please let me know if this is the correct fit or if you’d recommend a different option. Thank you again.

Hello Ranieri, thanks for reaching out. You are on the right track here. The Curt Trailer Hitch # C99RV will indeed fit your 2026 BMW X3 M50 with the M Sport package. I was able to confirm this with Curt - it will install normally and properly on that model. Installation will require temporary removal of the bumper, and a section of the bumper and underbody panel will need to be trimmed. You'll also need a rivet gun to reinstall the rivets in the wheel well. Replacement rivets are included with the hitch, but not the gun itself.
The hitch receiver itself can interfere with the hands-free lift gate sensor, but it most cases the sensor will still work as long as you waive your foot on either side of the receiver. It might make it a little harder to detect your foot, but the sensor should still function most of the time.
What will you be using the hitch for? A bike rack or towing a trailer?

Thank you very much for your reply, everything is clear. It will be used for a bike rack, so I think it will be perfect. Once I get it, this will definitely be my best option.
