Features to know about

Bring More Gear Wherever You Go: Class III Strength for Everyday Towing

This Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver gives you the muscle you need for hauling small trailers, campers, or boats with confidence. With a 2" x 2" receiver opening, it’s rated for a maximum gross trailer weight of 5,000 lbs and a maximum tongue weight of 750 lbs. The sturdy square-tube design and precision robotic welding make it solid under load. Whether you’re hauling tools to a job site or packing up for a weekend trip, this hitch is built to handle the weight without flex or rattle.

Keep Things Simple: Bolt-On Installation Without Welding

Installing this hitch doesn’t take a lift or special equipment. The fully welded receiver bolts right onto the vehicle’s frame—no welding needed—and comes with all the mounting hardware and instructions to get it done. The bolt-on fit means it lines up cleanly with factory mounting points, helping you get everything squared up fast. It’s exactly the kind of setup that makes DIY installs in the driveway doable without frustration.

Built to Last Through Every Season: Powder-Coated Steel Resists Rust

The gloss black powder coat finish sits over a protective base layer that fights corrosion and road grime. That means rain, grit, and salt won’t chew through it easily. The coated steel not only looks clean but helps keep the hitch performing like new through years of towing and storage duty.

Ready for Your Favorite Accessories: Works with Common 2" Gear

Because it’s a Class III hitch with a standard 2" receiver, most common ball mounts, bike racks, and cargo carriers will slide right in. Ball mount, pin, and clip are sold separately, so you can pick the setup that fits your needs best—whether that’s bringing along bikes for a ride or adding extra cargo space for a long trip.

Looks great, Gabriel! Also love your hitch cover :)

Fit and Function is great. Simple install following the instructions. Using it to haul 1 Type 3 e-bikes.

Fun note installed this on our 2016 BMW X3, 2nd trip out with it blew an oil pump and thus engine damaged. Bought a 2024 BMW x3 and installed this Hitch again. Another 2000 miles hauling these e-bikes around the west and no issues or worries.

by:

fit perfectly and I was able to install the hitch and wiring harness myself.

See what our Experts say about this CURT Trailer Hitch

  • What Curt Hitch do I Need for My 2025 BMW X3?
Hello Peter, Welcome to etrailer, I'm glad you found us! Yes, our Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C99RV is Curt's part number 13578, so these are the same hitch. The "CMF" you are seeing before 13578 is most likely an abbreviation for Curt Manufacturing and is not a different part number or hitch. I attached an image showing Curt's 13578 part number on the product page so you can compare it with what you are seeing. I have installed a couple of these style hitches before, and honestly,...

  • Will Curt Hitch C99RV Fit A 2026 BMW X3 M50 With The M Sport Package?
Hello Ranieri, thanks for reaching out. You are on the right track here. The Curt Trailer Hitch # C99RV will indeed fit your 2026 BMW X3 M50 with the M Sport package. I was able to confirm this with Curt - it will install normally and properly on that model. Installation will require temporary removal of the bumper, and a section of the bumper and underbody panel will need to be trimmed. You'll also need a rivet gun to reinstall the rivets in the wheel well. Replacement rivets are included...

  • Will Curt 2025 BMW X3 30 Hitch Prevent Foot Sensor From Activating Tailgate?
Hey Harry, thanks for reaching out! We haven't heard any reports on whether or not the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C99RV will get in the way of the sensors, but since the crossmember for the hitch sits up higher, it shouldn't sit between the sensors and where your foot will swipe under the bumper. The receiver itself might make it slightly harder to pick up your foot, but if you kick your foot in a forward-to-backwards motion (like you're kicking a ball) the sensor should be able to...

  • Which Hitch do I Need for My 2020 BMW X4M, Will the One for the X4 Work?
Hello Jacob, Welcome to etrailer! I'm glad you found us. I did some additional checking, and the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C99RV you were looking at is designed to fit the 2020 BMW X4 models, but it will not fit the X4M. For your 2020 BMW X4M, you need the Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver # SH47ZR instead. Stealth confirms this hitch is the correct fit for the X4M. One of the things I really like about it is that it's completely hidden when you're not using it. Once installed,...

  • Is Curt Hitch for 2021 BMW X3 xDrive30i A Good Option For Carrying Bikes
Hello Farhana! Yes, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C99RV is a great option for your 2021 BMW X3 xDrive30i. This has a 2" receiver so it will be compatible with most bike racks, and a tongue weight capacity of 750 lbs which is more than enough. The concealed cross tube gives it a nice clean look and great ground clearance. It features a bolt-on installation and comes with a limited lifetime warranty. What kind of bike rack and bikes are you carrying?

  • Trailer Hitch and Active Wiring Harness for 2019 BMW X4 xDrive40i
Hi Vince; for a hitch you can use the Curt # C99RV. If you would prefer a completely hidden design like the Stealth Hitch you were looking at then the correct one is the # SH75VR. The Stealth Hitch comes with the towing kit that has the required ball mount, safety chain looks, and your standard wiring. As far as I know, none of the aftermarket wiring will be "Active" and able to interact with your towing mode on the BMW. I would reach out to your local dealer to see if this is possible....

  • Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2024 BMW X3 With Aerodynamic Body Kit
Hi John; it looks like the aerodynamic body kit is part of the M-Sport package on the 2024 BMW X3. If you want a standard hitch you can use the Curt # C99RV. This has a concealed cross tube but the receiver will still be visible at the rear of the vehicle. If you want a completely hidden hitch with a removable receiver you can use the Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver # SH46FR or # SH62VR if you want it with the towing kit.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch For A 2024 BMW X3
Hi Racheal! The Curt hitch # C13316 you purchased back in 2020 will only fit a 2011 to 2017 BMW X3, unfortunately. For your new 2024 X3 (congrats by the way!), you will need the Curt # C99RV. What will you be using the hitch for on your new Beemer?

  • Do I See Difference Beteween 2019 BMW X3 M40 & sDrive For Hitch
Hello Greg, I cannot personally see any difference between the M40i and sDrive for the 2019 BMW X3. We haven't done an install on the M40i, so I can't say for sure what the difference would be regarding the # C99RV hitch and # SH46FR for install. It looks like both would work for the M40i, but the best I can do is go by what Curt says, which is that their hitch won't work for the M40i, so I can't recommend going that route.
