Can Rubber Inserts of Curt PowerRide 5th Wheel Hitch be Replaced

Updated 04/09/2026 | Published 04/08/2026

Question:

On the Curt PowerRide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ford Towing Prep Package - Dual Jaw - 30,000 lbs, Part Number: C48BR, can the torsion inserts be replaced? I see a replacement part number for the wear plates, but not the torsion inserts. Also, is there a parts manual that shows a complete breakdown of the hitch? Thank you

Hey James, the torsion inserts of the Curt PowerRide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ford Towing Prep Package # C48BR are not replaceable but this hitch is covered by a limited lifetime warranty so if yours were to fail we and Curt would take care of you. What fifth wheel hitches have you tried in the past?

I currently have the PowerRide hitch, I've had the Ford stock hitch made by Reese, and I've had B&W. The B&W was for a lighter 5th wheel. I require a 30K hitch, and unfortunately, B&W doesn't make a 30K hitch.

@James Makes sense! It's crazy the towing capacities of trucks nowadays.

@James I've had this hitch for almost 3 years and haven't had any issues with it. I tow my fifth wheel fulltime, across country, and this hitch has been easy to remove and put back in when I have to use the dually bed for something else. I went with Curt for the rave reviews and warranty and I've not been disappointed. I will definitely stick with my Curt hitch if I had to ever get another.

@James I have had this hitch for over a year and towed about 7700 miles with my Ford Dually, We have a 18,000 K rig and found this hitch to be smooth and really helps some of the bumps along the way. You will need to allow for some break in time regarding the puck adjustments, but when properly adjusted, there is very little bumping. I love it, but had to replace the wear plates due to a little bur on the 5t wheel hitch.
