This hitch is made for serious towing — rated for 30,000 lbs gross towing weight and 7,500 lbs vertical load. The cast steel body gives it the backbone to handle heavy fifth-wheel campers and toy haulers for the long haul. It’s tested to SAE J2638 standards, so you can count on dependable strength every mile. The durable dark gray teridium finish adds lasting rust resistance so it stays looking sharp season after season.
The patented interlocking 2-jaw design wraps completely around the king pin for 360-degree contact. That tight connection keeps the trailer steady with less rattle or chucking compared to slide-bar hitches. You’ll feel the difference when you’re cruising down rough highways or winding through mountain grades — solid engagement that feels secure and quiet every time you pull away.
No guesswork here — the three-position indicator clearly shows coupling status with color codes that tell you if it’s ready to uncouple, couple, or tow. The ergonomic handle resets itself after you release, so it’s ready for the next hookup without extra steps. The handle is easy to reach from the side of the bed, letting you hitch or unhitch without climbing around.
The multi-directional cast yoke head lets the trailer move naturally over dips and turns, cutting down on strain and giving you a smoother ride. Integrated wear plates keep motion free and even without needing grease, reducing upkeep while keeping operation quiet. You’ll notice the smooth response every time you take off or hit uneven pavement.
When it’s time to use your truck bed again, this hitch breaks down fast. Pull one pin to lift off the head, then grab the built-in grip points to move each piece out safely. The design makes it easier for one person to handle without special tools or equipment. It’s a practical setup for anyone who switches between towing duty and regular truck use.

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we take a look at this Curt PowerRide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch. Has a 30,000 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now this fifth wheel hitch will mount in your truck bed and allows you to tow your fifth wheel trailer. And it will tow up to 30,000 pounds with this nice heavy duty 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch.
Now I want to zoom in, talk about some of the parts on this. Right in here in the head, you can see it uses an interlocking two jaw system, which provides a nice complete 360 degree jaw to kingpin contact. That'll give you less rattle, more security than the slide bar models. The head on this is a nice multi-directional cast yoke head that delivers a smooth ride and less strain on the truck. Basically the head will tilt in multiple directions, it'll go side to side and it'll also go front to back.
Now it does use these integrated wear plates right here for a nice smooth operation, extended longevity. And you don't have to worry about any lube plate or grease needed. And these wear plates right here over time, they'll wear down from the different many hookups you'll have. Once they wear down, they are replaceable. You can remove them and put new ones in there.
We do sell those separately. They also offer four grease, our built-in grease zerk fittings for easy lubrication of the jaws and of the hitch head pivot point. Right here, you can see there's a zerk fitting right there, one over there. So one on each jaw. And on the head pivot points, there's one right over here.
And then one right over here. And again, you just connect your grease gun to it, pump in the grease for easy lubrication of the head. Now, one of the main features on this, it ensures secure towing. It uses a three point color coded lock indicator system. Basically, all you have to do is just look at the color indicator that's under the hitch head. And I want to show you that. It's in the back here. If you look right now, it's showing green because the jaws are closed, the handle's locked. So that means you're ready to tow. Now, it will also turn yellow right here. You can see where the green is. It'll turn yellow there. And that will mean the jaws are open. So you're ready to couple. Now, if it happens ever show red there, that's meaning that either the jaws are open or the handles unlocked. So you do not want to tow when it's showing red. And the nice thing about that is these color indicators right here. You can see these the way they're located right here. You can turn around in the cab of your truck and see those color indicators. And it tells you the position of the jaws. Nice feature to have. Now it also offers a four-inch hitch height adjustment. If you look on the side here, on the center support where your legs attach, there's four rows of holes. So you can bolt these legs to whatever hitch height you need. Now, hitch height is important because you want to tow your fifth wheel as level as possible. And hitch height is always measured from your truck bed to the top of the hitch head. So this one, because it has four rows of holes. It'll give you a four inch range. So from 13 inches to 17 inches of hitch height. And they do also offer a fast one pin head removal. So you can pull the head out pretty quick. All you have to do is this large handle right here, unhook the linchpin in the back, slide the complete pin out, and then you can lift the head off the center support. So basically, makes it very easy for one person to remove the hitch from your truck. Zoom back out here. It offers this nice ergonomic, self resetting handle. Offers easy use from the side of the truck bed. And this handle will self-reset after uncoupling your trailer. Makes it ready to couple again. So it eliminates an extra step. To install this into your truck bed, it is a simple installation. It does require the base rails and the installation kit. Those items are not included. We do sell those separately on our website. I would recommend to go to our website, use the fit guide, put in your year, model, vehicle, and it'll show you what you need for installing this to your vehicle. Now, this does include the base rail pins and clips where we'll attach it to the base rails, and even a nice set of instructions that'll describe how this all goes together and how it operates. It is a sturdy steel construction. Has a nice, durable, dark gray teridium finish to it. Again, the specs, the gross towing weight capacity is 30,000 pounds. Vertical load limit or pin weight capacity is 7,500 pounds. And the last thing I want to do is try to show you how this operates. Have an example, this is what a kingpin. This is a replica of what a kingpin would look like on your 5th Wheel. So what we're going to try to do here, we're going to, first thing you need to do is pop the pin and clip. And it's tethered, so you won't lose it. And now release your handle. So then all you have to do is pull your handle out and then slide it all the way to the back. And once you do that, you notice the jaws open, you're ready to couple. And I wanted to show you as we spin it around. We mentioned the color indicator. If you look in the back now, you can see it's showing yellow. Yellow means the jaws are open, handles unlocked and you're ready to couple up. So what I'm going to try to do is slide this king pin in. Now, because we got it raised here and there's no weight behind it. Might be a little tough to do but we'll see if we can slide this in. And you could see if I get it far enough, that that handle will come around. You can see it locks into place, the hole lines up. So all you have to do is take your pin, drop it through there, clip it, and that'll keep the handle from moving. And you can see it gives you a nice secure of your king pin. Now you're all ready to tow. And then to remove it, it's pretty easy. Just remove your pin and clip, pull that handle, slide it back. And as you slide it back, it'll release that King pin. And then again, it'll be in the ready-to-couple position again. But that should do it for the review on the Curt PowerRide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with the 30,000 pound gross towing weight capacity..

Huge upgrade over the "universal" set up on my previous truck. I love the compact size and jaw position indicators. If I could change anything I would extended the handle and mechanical interlock mechanism so I didn't have to climb in/on the bed to secure it.
This was SO easy to install into my truck! While at first I was a little confused on how it went together, it was much simpler than I thought. I did have to purchase a torque wrench to make sure the bolts were tighten the proper amount. I pull a 42' Grand Design fifth wheel, weighing about 17k, and the hookup and unhooking are ridiculously simple. Once I back the pin into the hitch, it hooks itself; I just have to put the locking pin in and drive away. For unhooking, it's as easy as pulling the locking pin, the pulling the handle to release the jaws. Now, I'm not a tall woman, so I have to stand on my tires, but I do it myself every time. After a year of pulling our rig across 8 states, I am still so happy with this purchase. The bumper pads have protected that area on my rig, and it's so easy to use. No regrets in this purchase!
I haven’t used it yet but this is very heavy and well Bilt I would recommend this to anyone.
Also very happy with my experience with etrailer it is so nice to talk to someone that is willing to go out of there way to help you looking forward to working with them again in the future
Fantastic product. Test drive with the RV was flawless, especially with the new Curt pin box. I can’t wait to head out on a longer trip with this new setup. Thank you Kayleigh & Rachel at Etrailer !!!
Hi it’s an easy to use hitch made tough.
Really built heavy and strong. I'm really impressed with the construction of the unit. I'm very pleased with it.
Grip pad damaged during shipping - Missing hardware
Very well built but thats CURT. When towing very quite and stable.
I would give this hitch 5 stars but it was damaged when I got it. The handle was apparently dented when it was shipped so I had the choice of either sending sending back a 125 pound hitch or banging out a dent in the handle and getting the damn thing installed.
Great customer service
I received the package earlier than projected but was worried when I saw that the box with the rails was tore open on one end, hopefully there are no parts missing but I will know more tomorrow...
Needed to have a hitch that I could adjust to sit lower and this Curt 30k was perfect. Of course I ordered it from etrailer with free shipping and best price around. I love the fact that you can track your order every step of the way. UPS delivered it a day early. Whole process was 5 star
Looks great and super super fast shipping also Paula was a pleasure to deal with thanks guys
Of all the products I have purchased from E-Trailer, the CURT 5th wheel hitch has been the most disappointing. After installing the unit, I noticed workmanship items that are not consistent with a high quality unit. The legs and main body did not consistently align and there is excessive chucking (in my opinion) that occurs while traveling. When I addressed this with CURT, I received no response regarding the misalignment and was told the chucking was within industry standards! Two previous 5th wheel hitches did not "chuck" as this unit does.
When I addressed these concerns with E-Trailer and requested a refund, I was informed since the unit had been installed no refund was allowable. I asked how I would hear/feel the chucking w/o installing and got no viable response then as well.
I will eventually go with a GenY gooseneck adapter.
Do not support CURT, they do not stand behind their products and customer service is pretty much nonexistent!!
