Best Sumo Springs For 2024 Ford F-150 Pulling 34' Travel Trailer With 955 lb Hitch Weight

Updated 04/09/2026 | Published 04/03/2026

Question:

I own a 2024 f150 Lariat Powerboost. I tow a 34 travel trailer with a 955 lbs hitch weight, and a weight distribution system. Should I buy the 1,000 lb or the 1,500 lb SumoSpring?

Hey Juan, good question. With a 955 lb tongue weight and a 34' trailer, I’d steer you toward the 1,500 lb SumoSprings.

Even with a weight distribution hitch helping spread that load, you’re still putting a good amount of weight on the rear suspension, and the 1,000 lb set would be right at its limit or possibly a little under what you actually need once you factor in gear in the bed, passengers, and anything else you’re carrying. That’s where you end up still seeing some squat or not getting the control you’re after.

The 1,500 lb springs # SS28UV give you more support in reserve, so the truck stays more level and feels more planted without being harsh unloaded. They’re progressive, so they won’t ride stiff all the time, they only really come into play as the load increases. That makes them a better fit for towing a trailer your size and keeping things stable without beating you up day to day. For those reasons I definitely recommend going with the 1,500s.

Do you usually carry gear in the bed during your trips?

I recommend the 1500lb. springs.. I have a 2024 F150 xlt power boost and tow a 30 foot travel trailer. The 1500 lb springs leveled the truck perfectly when towing the trailer.
