2025 Ford Ranger Brake Controller Install Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Setup

Updated 04/01/2026 | Published 03/28/2026

Question:

I have a 2025 ford ranger with factory tow hitch with both 4 and 7 way plugs. I do not have the factory tow brake. I’m wanting to add one to my truck. Looking to see what parts I would need. I installed your trailer brake product on my 2002 ford ranger that didn’t have a 7way plug

Hi Roy, you’re actually in a great spot with that 2025 Ranger since you already have the factory 7 way, so adding a brake controller is pretty straightforward compared to your old setup.

I’d recommend going with the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty part # RED67CR. It’s a really clean option because it uses a small dash mounted knob instead of a bulky controller, and it comes with a custom harness designed for Ford trucks like yours. If your Ranger has the factory brake controller port, this will plug right in under the dash near the driver side firewall to the left of the brake pedal, making it a true plug and play install.

I do want to mention that we’ve seen a few cases where that plug isn’t present even with the tow package. If that happens, there should still be a bundle of wires in that same area that can be hardwired to the controller. The Redarc setup still works great in that situation, it just takes a little extra time to connect everything instead of plugging it in.

One nice thing with the Redarc is how clean the install can look. Some trucks have an extra knockout panel or open switch location where you can mount the knob for a really nice factory style finish, but if not, you can use the universal mounting panel part # 331-TPSI-001 to give it a clean, secure place on the dash or console.

Either way, once it’s installed, you’ll get smooth, proportional braking and a really clean look inside the cab, which is why a lot of customers prefer this setup. I added a couple of reviews from customers with the 2025 Ford Ranger. What are you planning to tow first, a camper, boat, or utility trailer?
