Hey Shawn! Yes, the B&W 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box # BW23RV does include safety chains. That is one of the first things we asked them when they came by to show us the new pin box. They also throw in replacement hardware so you're covered if you need it.

Gooseneck pin boxes are already pricey, and it can be easy to forget the safety chains, so it is nice that B&W decided to include them. This particular model is designed to fit a Lippert Rhino bolt pattern so make sure that is what you have on your trailer.

What kind of 5th wheel are you towing?

This is going on a 2026 Jayco Pinnacle 36FBTS with MORryde pin box RPB72-FD. After talking with MORryde I was told the FD designated the rhino bolt pattern.

@ShawnC perfect, if they said it's a Rhino you're good to go.

I'm used to a regular 5th wheel hitch so I've never had to use safety chains before. Do these just hook into the factory safety chain loops in my truck bed?

@DerekF yep, that's exactly where they'll attach. The safety chains included with the # BW23RV run from the pin box down to the safety chain attachment points in your truck bed. Since you're switching to a gooseneck connection, the chains are required even though you didn't need them with your traditional 5th wheel hitch.

Will this work with the Gen-Y offset ball? I have a 2026 F-250 with the short bed, prep package, and I think I will need that extra clearance.

@BrandonH yes, you can use the Gen-Y # GY43XR with any of the B&W Gooseneck Pin Boxes. The Gen-Y fits the factory prep package on your F-250 and moves the connection point back 5", which is a great way to pick up some additional cab clearance with the short bed.

Is the sumospring on the B&W pin box basically the same concept as the system used on the Gen-Y Executive?

@KevinB they're the same general concept in that both are designed to add cushioning between your truck and 5th wheel, but they go about it differently. The # BW23RV uses a SumoSpring to absorb road shock and help reduce chucking, while the Gen-Y Executive uses rubber torsion components to provide the cushioning. Both are a big step up from a rigid gooseneck pin box.

What if I have a Lippert 1116 pin box? Can I still use the B&W or do I need to go a different route?

@JasonW yes, you can still use the B&W. For a Lippert 1116 you'll use the 1621 model # BW73RV or # BW83RV along with the Shim Kit # BW57MV. The shims compensate for the wider mounting plate spacing on the 1116 so the B&W will bolt up correctly.
