Bike Frame Adapter Bar

Swagman Deluxe Adapter Bar Easy InstallationSwagman Deluxe Adapter Bar Easy Installation

This adapter bar allows you to carry a bike with a sloping top tube or step-through frame on your bike rack. It fits between the seat post and handlebar stem post of your bike to ensure level transport on your hanging-style bike rack. It also creates a top tube so you can carry your bike on a frame-mount platform-style rack. The spring-loaded bar telescopes to fit multiple frame sizes, and it can be used with no-rise bike stems.

Easy Installation

Swagman Deluxe Adapter Bar Vinyl Collars

To install the adapter bar simply open the hooks with the integrated release buttons, wrap one hook around your handlebar stem post and the other around your seat post, and close the hooks. The hooks open outward - parallel with the bar - to help you avoid interference from the seat and handlebars during installation. The bar has red "Up" indicators on each end to help prevent incorrect installation. The hooks have a vinyl coating that won't scratch or scuff your bikes' paint.

  • Comparing Swagman E-Spec and Current Bike Racks for an SUV and a Ram ProMaster RV
You have a great eye. Both the Swagman E-Spec # S94FR and the Swagman Current # S64678 are super strong bike racks that are constructed for brute strength. This is because Swagman wanted both of these racks to be approved for use when attached to the back of motorhomes/RVs. However, the E-Spec has the advantage of strength because not only can the E-Spec withstand the extra force/torque exerted on it on the back of a motorhome/RV, it also can withstand the increased force when mounted on...

  • Bumper Mounted Bike Rack to Clear Spare Tire on 2019 Rockwood Roo Travel Trailer
The distance from center of hitch pin hole to edge of first upright arm on the # S64663 is 10-1/2 inches. However, the distance to first wheel hoop is only 8 inches. You may still be able to use this rack as long as you can slide your spare tire to either side (Fig 1), this is what most of our customers actually do and it's worked very well. The Swagman # S64663 is designed to be used on continuously welded, 4 - 4-1/2 inch tall, steel RV bumpers. If relocating the spare tire along the...

  • Best 2 Bike Carrier for a Jayco 5th Wheel Trailer
For starters, bike racks used on the back of a 5th wheel trailer must be rated for this use as they will experience more stress in comparison to a bike rack used on the back of a vehicle. This has to do with the movement associated with the carrier being located father away from the rear axle. The best platform style bike rack we have for a 5th wheel trailer is the Swagman E-spec 2-Bike Platform Rack part # S94FR. The Escapee was actually designed specifically for use on the back of a...

We do offer several types of bike carriers designed and rated for use on the front of an RV, including the platform style such as the Swagman Dispatch # S44FR. This carrier features a folding upright mast that allows you access to the vehicle cargo area when the rack is unloaded. All RV-rated bike racks for 2-inch hitches are shown on the linked page. The Swagman Dispatch # S44FR is a great choice for an RV rack. It includes locks for both the rack itself and your loaded bikes; its independent...

  • How Do I Install Straps Without Hooks For My Trunk Mounted Bike Rack On My 2017 Toyota Prius?
For your 2017 Toyota Prius with Yakima FullBack 2 Bike Rack, # Y02634, the attached instructions show you how to convert the hooks to anchors. The anchors are made by essentially feeding the strap back through a slot in the hook to allow the entire hook to remain inside the hatch as an anchor. I've attached a picture to assist as well.

  • Trunk Mounted Bike Rack Compatible with 2016 Volvo XC90 Spoiler
On your 2016 Volvo XC90 if you have a roof rack you can use the Hollywood Racks Over-The-Top Trunk Bike Rack # HRF2 or # HRF2-3. I confirmed this with the manufacturer. We don't list the fit in our guide because it requires the rails for a fit. If you don't have a roof side rails then you will need to add a roof rack to your flush mounted rails to use that rack. The # RRVA126B-2 and # RRSX040 are my recommendation. If you have the raised factory side rails then you don't need to add...

  • Recommended Bike Rack for Trek Verve 3 with Step-Through Frame for a 2004 Volvo S40
The Swagman Chinook # S64683 is a great bike rack that can be adjusted to hold kid's bikes so I don't think that the hook being able to come down far enough will be an issue. My only concern is that the 3rd point of contact will be lower so I am not sure how secure a bike with a low step-through frame will do. To ensure that your wife's bike will remain secure in the bike rack there are 2 options. You could either use an Adapter Bar # 64005 which is typically used for hanging style...

  • Recommended 2 Bike Rack For 2013 Honda Fit Sport Where Trunk Mounted Racks Wont Fit
I reached out to my contact at Thule and they confirmed they do not have any fits for your 2013 Honda Fit Sport Model. They said the reason is the factory spoiler is not strong enough to support the straps. All of our manufacturers exclude the Sport model for this reason. My recommendation is to use the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # C11064 and then use the Thule Doubletrack Pro XT Bike Rack # TH92BJ which is a confirmed fit along with the support strap...

  • What Bike Rack do You Recommend for Transporting an E-Bike on a Truck and Travel Trailer?
I have a solution for you. Any time you use any adapter like the MaxxTow Hitch Adapter # MT70032, you reduce the overall weight capacity of the hitch by 50%. With that being said, that will reduce your trailer's hitch to only 65 pounds of available tongue weight. Since the OnRamp # Y36FR already weighs 39.5 pounds, that leaves only 25.5 pounds of available tongue weight on the rack. This is extremely dangerous. We unfortunately do not recommend going this route even if you plan on further...

  • Adapter for low Step-Through Frame E-Bike to fit Bike Rack
The perfect solution for you to carry your EVELO Luna with the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE 2-Bike Carrier for Electric Bicycles # HLY84FR would be to use an adapter bar which attaches between your seat post and handlebar stem to create a horizontal mounting point. You can see exactly what it does in the photo I've attached for you. The Thule Spare Me Bike rack part # TH963PRO and the Yakima Spare Tire part # Y02599 both do come with locks to secure the rack to your spare tire and cable locks to secure the bikes to the carrier. The biggest difference between the two and is only an advantage for some people is that the Yakima can fit on spare tires that are up to 12.5 inches wide whereas the Thule can only fit tires that are up to 10 inches wide. The trunk-mount bike rack I recommend for your 2015 Camry is the Thule OutWay, part # TH45JV. This carrier uses only 2 retractable cables to secure the rack to the car versus other bike carriers that typically use 6 straps. • What 4-Bike Bike Rack do You Recommend for My 2021 Grand Design Fifth-Wheel Trailer?
I have the answer! You are 100% correct when saying that the Swagman XTC4 Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches # S64665 is rated for motorhomes and not fifth-wheel. The reason why is because there is much more force/torque exerted on the rear of a fifth-wheel than a motorhome. Unfortunately, the XTC4 does not work on a fifth-wheel trailer application. Also, even if the XTC4 could work, there is only a 3-1/2" distance between the center of the shank's pinhole to the closest part of the rack...

  • RV Bike Rack Recommendation for a Class B RV
I will be happy to help. The first piece of information that will help you choose a bike rack is that not all bike racks can be used on RVs, even if it is a Class B RV. On RVs and trailers, there is excess bouncing and movement at the trailer hitch. Most hitch mount bike racks cannot handle the excess bouncing and would likely fail during your trip causing expensive damages. We do have several bike racks that are rated for use on a RV. I have attached a link to these bike racks for you...

However, the best route is to use the Ultra-Fab Dirt Bike Carrier for 2" Hitches - With Ramp - 77" Long # UF48-979033. The Ultra-Fab is RV-approved and will fit motorcycles/scooters up to 500 pounds. • Recommended Trunk Mount Bike Rack for 2001 Honda Accord Coupe with Spoiler
Since you don't want a hitch I assume you aren't interested in a roof rack for the same reason so that leaves you with a trunk mount rack. A great trunk mount I like to recommend is the Saris Bones, part # SA805BL. This is a high quality, easy to install rack that's more affordable than some of the others. The arched design is great for spoilers and it's mostly made of plastic making it a lot less susceptible to rust and corrosion. It also has anti-sway cradles. The only thing I don't...

  • Will the SportRack Hitch 4-Bike Rack Work With Kid's Bikes
The SportRack Ridge Swing 4 Bike Rack part # SR2415 will work with kid's bikes as well as most adult bikes. That said, if any of these bikes have an alternative frame type which is common on kid's and women's bikes then you will need an adapter bar which ensures the bikes hang level so that you don't have to worry about the tires coming into contact with the road. The Reese Q-Slot Platform-Style 2 Bike Rack is a fit for your 2015 Prius but has been discontinued. If you already have the rack it will work very well for you. I recommend using the included pin and clip for a secure fit in the hitch and then using a cable lock like # e98891 to secure your bikes to the rack. Unfortunately your bike is just over that, so unless you can reduce the weight of the bike by removing the battery, I recommend the Thule EasyFold XT 2 Electric Bike Platform Rack # TH903202 which is compatible with bikes up to 65 lbs and will not require any adapter bar. The Curt 4 has a maximum per-bike weight capacity of 45 pounds and can hold bikes with maximum tire widths of 3 inches wide. Normally, you can use an adapter bar like part # 64005 to secure a bike with a step through frame on a platform rack like the Swagman Chinook, part # S64683. A lot of times the seat tube and connection to the rear wheel will be higher, and this creates the platform that we generally will use to support the bar and give the frame clamp something to hold on to.
