Best Weight Distribution Hitch For 3,600 lb Utility Trailer Loaded With Side-By-Side

Question:

In one month, I will be taking my 15 utility trailer loaded with my side-by-side and traveling approximately 2,000 miles round-trip. Since most of my trip will be traveling on interstates and highways with a total of 18 of trailer and nearly 3,600 pounds behind my truck, should I look into getting a WDH? I do not have any issues with sag in my truck bed, but nervous hauling this on the interstate with semis around me

Hey Dave, thanks for reaching out. That's a good call looking into a WD hitch. It will make a big difference in sway especially when you have semis blowing past you.

For a 3,600 lb trailer I recommend the following:

- Curt TruTrack 2P Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control - 7-Hole Shank - 8K GTW, 800 lb TW # C95MJ

This is intended for trailers with a tongue weight between 500 and 800 lbs and with your trailer weight you should be right within that range. It'll do a solid job keeping the trailer aligned behind your truck and eliminating sway as it happens. Will definitely help make those highway miles less nerve-wracking. Overall it offers good performance for a very competitive price. I like the price point especially since it sounds like you'll only be using it for this one trip.

One big thing to keep in mind is the placement of the frame brackets. They need to be place on the frame about 31" back from the center of the hitch ball. You will want to measure out the frame and make sure there are no obstructions in this area. As long as there is room, you can be sure it will fit and work well for you.
