When your trailer tongue weight presses down and makes the rear of your tow setup sag, this system brings everything back to level. The Curt MV Weight Distribution System evenly spreads 600 lbs – 800 lbs of tongue weight across all the axles so your ride feels balanced and steady. With a maximum 8,000 lbs gross towing weight rating, it restores proper control and stability so you can tow to the full capacity of your hitch.
The round spring bars are made of solid, forged steel for reliable strength that holds up under load. They’re powder coated to fight rust and corrosion, and each bar locks securely into the head. The lift brackets and chains give you a classic, proven setup that stays dependable over time. Grease zerks in the head assembly make it easy to keep the system maintained and moving smoothly trip after trip.
Dialing in your weight distribution is simple with the traditional washer-stacking design. Just add or remove washers on the spacer rivet to set your preferred head tilt and balance. The included adjustable shank fits 2" × 2" receivers and gives you up to 6" of rise or 2-1/2" of drop, so you can match the exact trailer height you need. The 12"-long shank and 31-3/16" bracket placement dimensions make it easy to get the geometry just right.
Out of the box, this setup focuses on weight distribution only, but you can add a bar-style friction sway control kit (part # 17200 – sold separately) when you’re ready. The add-on uses friction to help bring the trailer back in line when wind or passing traffic tries to push it around. It’s a straightforward upgrade that gives you flexibility as your towing needs evolve.
Everything you need to set up is included: head assembly, adjustable shank, spring bars, lift brackets, lift chains, handle, and all necessary hardware. You’ll just need to add a hitch ball with a 1-1/4"-diameter shank to match your trailer coupler. Once installed and leveled, the Curt MV delivers a smooth, steady towing experience that feels secure and predictable every time you hit the road.

Great experience! I contacted etrailer help desk, instant reply to my question. I ordered a complete hitch with extra parts, it came the second day! Amazing service. If you are looking for anything to do with any of the products they sell, you will not find better service anywhere, and with free shipping, I doubt if you will find a better price.
This equalizer assembly is exactly like another brand we put on another trailer, just not as heavy.
This equalizer went on our travel trailer, gets used maybe twice a year right now.
We pull this trailer or a 23' flat hauling a Jeep plus accessories (13500 lb. GVW) with a Ram 1500.
Delivery was quick, all the parts were ok and there. Nice looking paint/powder coat.

After researching online and after talking with local hitch installers I ordered the recommended product from etrailer! I found the price to be fair and after ordering the item arrived on time! We're very happy with etrailer and highly recommend them!
Very easy to install and set-up. Hard to imagine why I would want to spend more unless it included a sway control system. Very pleased with my purchase. My only small complaint was that I read many reviews from other customers of etrailer praising the speediness of their shipping; my order showed to be "in-stock" but took nearly a week before it actually shipped. Now once it left the facility the shipping was very fast.
Awesome hitch at and awesome price. I tried finding one on craigslist and found that buying here was only about $** more. In that case, I will go brand new every time. I haven't had a chance to put it to use yet, but everything looks great.

The product has worked excellent. Its rugged, thick steel that has held up to many camping trips.
Not my first experience with etrailer won't be the last. They have good service, helpful staff, quick shipping and good prices. The Curt weight distribution hitch is comparable to higher priced brands and works well for less money.
The product itself is excellent but was delivered without the hardware bag with all of the fasteners needed to assemble the hitch nor did the package contain the hitch ball also ordered. I contacted eTrailer and spoke with Michele about the missing items and she apologized and said that she would contact Curt to get the hitch pieces sent to me. I received the missing pieces AND the hitch ball five days later. Have to give a better than good rating even though the last time I ordered from eTrailer I had no problems with getting what I ordered and gave an excellent rating that time.
I've owned this hitch a couple of weeks now, went through the assembly and the proper setups techniques, which takes a couple of hours and probably standard among most WDH styles. the reason for low stars is that I have yet to tow with it and a little retention clip for one of the bars has fallen off. The entire hitch is no longer usable with this missing. (you cannot tow with the bars removed, according to Curt customer service) these retention clips are riveted on in the factory and this one was somehow defective. Curt has offered to send me a replacement immediately, which is good, but if you use this hitch be aware if this small rivet fails then your entire hitch cannot be used until the main section is replaced (requiring full disassembly and reassembly)
Curt 17051 weight distribution hitch. This hitch works great with my 2005 Chevy Suburban and equally well with 2011 Chevy Avalanche. The coil spring rear suspension on these vehicle ride really nice but sags a lot with my 26' travel trailer attached. The weight distribution hitch installed easily and after adjusting, the ride height is back to within one inch of the unloaded ride height and can be cranked up more if needed.
The round bars can easily be installed or removed and have grease fittings. When the spring bar is turned sideways, the locking pin comes out of the groove and the bar falls out. This makes it easy to remove the spring bar.
Sway control is definitely helpful for this combination. I'm using an add-on Curt friction sway control. I should have bought the whole kit with sway control included.
I ordered this item on a weekend. I am impressed with the service I received! I received order confirmation, shipping information, and was able to watch routing. I received my order quickly. This is a first class operation and I would definitely use them in the future! The item was exactly as presented and I'm very happy with it.

The quality of the hitch is great. Expect that it will give years of service with no problems
Overall I was surprisingly impressed with the build quality and thickness of the steel. etrailer Shipped the product in an outer box which was a nice touch. I am very pleased as usual. I have ordered from etrailer a handful of times and will continue to do so. Great prices and quality inventory.

I keep everything greased and out of the weather so the whole hitch is still like new. I still feel this is a great buy.
Product was easy to install and worked as advertised. My application was a bit odd and I went for a different solution after using it for a while, in the end to avoid the torque bars, I swapped the 2" hitch to a 2.5" hitch. Raising the trailer on the electric tongue jack made installing the torque bars a lot easier and I avoid the potential finger pinch at the chain/hook connection. The chain had a tendency to slip off the hook when applying the tension. My rig is heavy enough (1 ton) that the load distribution made little difference, for a lighter tractor I can see how it would improve the handling.
Trailer pulls much nice woth it on. Still get a good deal sway when I'm being passed by a larger vehicle. One of the little pins came out, how I caught was pure luck.

Still liking my weight distbuting hitch system. Glad I bought it!
Easy to install and worked well. I still had to reposition the car on the trailer to eliminate all the sway. But that is to be expected as the tongue weight still needs to be 10-15% of the trailer weight. I would buy this again but perhaps the 10K unit

I have installed the curt 17051weight distributing hitch according to the easy to follow instructions. Test drove with camper connected and pulled very easy. Will be going on first long trip next week..

Used the hitch to tow a jayco 154 BH. Made towing easier. We have since traded to a little bigger camper and the hitch still works like a dream. I would recommend the hitch to anyone towing a trailer.

Excellent quality product. I did alot of research before purchasing this weight distribution system and this one fit the bill perfectly. The shank is solid, not hollow like some other brands. The installation is not bad, alittle tedious to get measurements just right if not on perfectly level ground, but not too bad. Driving difference is night and day. Overall a great product for a great price. Extremely satisfied and I would recommend this to anybody looking for a quality product at a great price.

It's been a year and so far, there's been no issues or problems. Once set up, it works flawlessly and really makes a difference on how the trailer and truck handles. I would highly recommend this to anyone!
This may be my 3rd Curt weight distributing hitch. So while I normally find little value in the rating of something before it is used. It is my third for a reason. I have been very pleased with the other Curt round bar style Weight Distributing Hitches I have bought and used. I needed a higher rated one. I like the high level of adjustability in the head pitch / round bar tension. The simple friction bar sway control is perfect in its simple deployment and removal as well as its infinite adjustability. I have never had a problem with sway but, it is really nice to have when tractor trailers blow by. Excessive sway dampening can be a liability in slippery conditions. With this I can simply dial it back. As with everything else I have received from Curt the build quality is excellent.

Very good product , does the job. Two things I don't like. The "snap ins" for the flex bars. Are you supposed to pull them out with your fingers? To release the bars? It hurts my fingers, to the point I can't do it. So I use an old large flat screwdriver, that's works. Second, the hair pins, they hurt putting them in, and taking them out. I had another hitch that did not have the engineering mistakes. Other than that it works fine. Pay attention to the instructions and videos , they help a lot. etrailers does a great job, They let U speak to a tech, if U want, he was a great help. I definitely would do business with them again.
Etrailer communication was great. I’ve had great satisfaction with Curt hitch products in the past. My new purchase seems fine. All is great.
Curt instructions were awful, so happy etrailer provided some videos. The lock nut for the shank is impossible to back off! Unable to adjust the hitch, very disappointed with this product.
My delivery showed up with a torn open box and I think the torsion bars fell out somewhere. I’ll be initiating a return. If they replace the bars or process a return, my rating will be better.
