Is There A Loading Ramp Attachment For The Hollywood Rack Sport Rider SE?

Updated 03/27/2026 | Published 03/04/2026

Question:

Do you know how I could rig up a ramp to go on my sport rider se rack. Getting older and can’t lift my e-bikes Have you ever used the two bike extension? Is 4 bikes too heavy for your hitch? Approximately 275 pounds

Hello Marge, welcome back. I am sorry to say there isn't a great way to rig up a ramp to the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack # HLY84FR. This rack has wheel hoops and they just don't work well as a ramp attachment point.

If you need a ramp to help with loading, your best option here will be a new bike rack with a built in ramp attachment point like the Hollywood Racks Destination # HLY66ZR.

As far as the two bike extension, that may work for you, but it completely depends on the weight capacity of your trailer hitch and tow vehicle. As long as the weight of the rack and all four bikes does not exceed the weight rating of the hitch, you will be good to go.

What kind of bikes do you have?

I have this rack and I love how sturdy it is. The rack tips down wich helps loading heavy bikes. I lost 2 bikes with a different cheap platform rack. Believe me you dont want to loose your bikes on the highway. This hollywood rack holds solid . Seen another person using it and immediately bought one. If you want peace of mind while flying down the highway this is the rack. I never want to go through what happened to me again. This rack is solid.

@Eric Eric, really appreciate you sharing this. And man, losing two bikes on the highway is every rider’s nightmare. Glad you found something that gives you real peace of mind. The Hollywood racks are built stout, and that tilt feature definitely makes life easier with heavier bikes. Thanks for the honest feedback and for sticking with a quality setup. Ride safe out there.

I have this rack; and love it!! It is super sturdy on my 25ft Winnebago Chalet motorhome. I’ve driven on gravel and bumpy dirt roads; no problem with the rack and 2 e-bikes. My e-bike is heavy; 50 lbs with the battery. I remove the battery before loading the bike onto the rack, to make it lighter. I keep the battery in a fire-proof bag in a storage compartment of the motorhome while traveling. I am a 72 year old female and short, and yes, loading the bike into the rack is sometimes a challenge. To load: I lift up the front wheel of the bike, and roll it onto the rear wheel spot of the rack. Then roll the front wheel of the bike to the front wheel spot of the rack; you will be lifting the bike while you are doing this. However, part of the bike is now supported by the rack, so it is easier than it sounds. At times, I have used a small stool to put the bike front wheel onto, so that the initial lift onto the rack is easier. Practice at home a couple of times to see how that works for you. Mary

@Mary Hey Mary, this is awesome feedback, thank you for taking the time to share all of this. It’s great to hear how well the rack is holding up on rough roads, and your tips on removing the battery and storing it safely are super helpful for anyone running a heavier e-bike. Really appreciate you walking through your loading process too, that’s the kind of real-world advice that makes a big difference. The step-by-step and stool trick are great ideas, and practicing at home is a solid call. Glad to hear it’s working well for you!
