Question:
I recently purchased a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 high country Diesel. I also purchased a 2024 Forest River R-pod 197 travel trailer. Here is what I have experienced after 1 year of towing. My trucks display would show the trailer connected when it wasnt. I took it into the dealership and they did module firmware updates, replaced the trailer receptacle and brake module. That problem went away. Ever since the service work was done on my truck, it now shows when the trailer is connected or disconnected. However, while I am towing, it periodically will display the following messages: Trailer disconnected, trailer brakes disabled, trailer connected, trailer brakes enabled. Also, when connecting the trailer cable to my truck, I like to perform the automatic light check test from the trucks display menu. However, it complains that most of the lights are not working which is not true. I will then do the light test manually. I would press on the brake and my wife tells me its working on the trailer and so on blinkers, running lights, etc.. I then took the new trailer to the dealership to get inspected. They said there is nothing wrong with the trailer. They looked at the brakes and put a device on the trailer cable to test it. All was good. The RV mechanic said that Chevy and GMCs power is pulsed and thats probably why we are seeing those issues. Do you think your C57003 adaptor would resolve these issues we are seeing? Or, do you think there is an issue on the truck side? Is there a possibility that the adaptor might damage the truck or trailer?

Hey Brent, thanks for all of the information. Your mechanic is correct the power sent to the 7-way on your 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500 is pulsed and causes issues like you're experiencing. The 7-Way Trailer Adapter for Towing Trailers with LED Lights item # C57003 has been used to address issues like what you're dealing with. It will not cause any damage to your truck or trailer's electrical system. It has built in load resistors to trick the towing system into recognizing a trailer and sending proper voltage to the lighting circuits.
Does your trailer have LED's?

I had a similar problem with my 2024 F250 when I had LED lights added to our 2026 Rockwood TT. I would get messages that the lights weren’t working. However the driver side lights were working fine. The right side were extremely slow or not working at all. I also went to dealership to check the truck out. I didn’t let them know the problem just started when the LED lights were added. I was at a loss as to what to do. I read on many owner forums that I wasn’t the only one. They talked about adding resistors to eliminate the problem. One person mentioned the Etrailer 7way adapter. I tried it and all my light problems went away. Hope this helps.

I have a 17 F250, all my trailers now have LED lights, the truck would not recognize them because there wasn’t enough resistance, also my hot wire to the trailer to charge auxiliary battery. This plug fixed all of it. Haven’t had an issue since.

Jerred is right. I did the same thing for my 2019 Chevy high Country. Even had a Chevy Tech from Detroit send me paperwork for the same problem. I ended up getting the c57003. One thing I can tell you, make sure that you push the adapter in real hard and make sure the adapter from trailer is pushed in hard also. Sometimes i have to disconnect it and connect it again. Chevy is the only truck I know of that have this problem. I have hooked up to Ford and Dodge no problems. I hope this works.
