Will The Furrion 7-Way Vehicle Power Adapter FR87PR Help Flickering LEDs On A Trailer?

Updated 02/18/2026 | Published 02/12/2026

Question:

I have a 2023 Silverado 1500 and a 2025 Grand design with LED lights. Will this also solve the LED light flickering issues as well as provide the power for the cameras?

Welcome back Jeremy!

The Furrion 7-Way Vehicle Power Adapter for Furrion RV Observation Camera # FR87PR was designed with this kind of thing specifically in mind.

The flickering you are getting with the LED lights is caused by not having enough draw for your 23 Silverado 1500 to think that a trailer is attached, which is becoming more and more common with newer trucks. Just like it does for the cameras, this will even out that draw to a constant 12 volts and basically force your truck to recognize a trailer being attached. This will get you all squared away.

Are you getting ready for the upcoming season or do you already have a trip planned?

I had to get it because of a pulsating view. It was on then off then on then off it wasn’t a flickering, but to me more of a pulsate edit took care of everything and I leave it on my trailer plug so it goes directly into the truck every time I use it hope this helps.

It didn’t solve any of my issues. No different than without it. Rear camera still wouldn’t work.

@Pat Sorry to hear that. We do hear this from time to time and when we do, we almost always recommend grabbing the Voyager 12V PWM Filter for RV Backup Camera Systems - Hardwire # VGR64VR. It's a hardwired version of the Furrion, basically, and does tend to work when the Furrion doesn't.

2021 GMC 3500 and 2021 Heartland Cyclone, this helped with powering the cameras, I had no issues with the lights. The lights flicker when the truck is off as that is part of the security feature of the truck.

@Chris I received an email to comment on the GM dog bone adapter I have a 2021 GMC 3500 Denali The adapter that I received from ETrailer July/August 2025 would not fit the 7-pin male connector on my 2018 Cedar Creek 5th wheel. The connector on the trailer was a standard issue connector No problem connecting to the female connector on the truck. I did not need it for the Cedar Creek but I needed it for the 2025 5th wheel I was picking up My opinion is that ETrailer received a bad batch of adapters. They were willing to take it back but I was headed out to pickup a new camper and just blew it off When I picked up my new camper the dealer threw in a furrion adapter and my rear camper camera works as advertised FYI for the flickering light folks: I understand that GM has a TSB to fix that

@Jwntx Sorry about that. If you would like, I can still get you a return label for the defective Furrion adapter. Just let me know!

Received a request to comment on this plug..... To this day, The plug has worked faithfully! It has take care of same of providing constant power to the camera with my 2021 GMC 2500. It's also provided consistent charging to 5th wheel batteries....which was a problem before. Know every issue is different....but it was a good choice to fixing our problems. Hope it helps ..... This adapter fixed the issue I had with the trailer side cameras, but the truck running lights have to be on. So, in the daytime I have to turn the lights on manually to power the side cameras. This adapter doesn't have any impact on my rear trailer camera because it is powered by the trailer 12 volt system, not the truck.

@MauryP Thanks for letting everyone know about the running lights! I hadn't heard that before but it does make sense. I'm sure others will find that useful as well! Out of curiosity, what kind of camper are you pulling?

@MauryP Interesting. Glad they are being smart about how they are getting power to the camera system. Hopefully others will follow their lead on that!
