Question:
I own a 2018 Chevy traverse and am wondering if the Yakima RuggedLine HD Mounting System for LockNLoad Platform would fit with the usual modifications. Thanks!

Hey Brian. Not sure what you mean by the usual modifications but the Yakima RuggedLine HD Mounting System for LockNLoad Platform item # Y53DJ is designed for a 5th generation Toyota 4Runner's so it's not going to work with your 2018 Chevy Traverse.
If your Traverse has crossbars, you can install the Yakima LockNLoad Platform Rack for Crossbars item # Y05044-39. This is a 55" long x 49" wide platform that's the same style included with the item # Y53DJ. It comes with the necessary mounting hardware and brackets to attach directly to a pair of crossbars.
There's no direct roof mount bracket system for your Traverse from any of our vendors. The ones we do have are designed for other vehicle's. You'll need to have a set of crossbars attached to your roof to add a platform rack.
Does your Traverse have crossbars on it and if not do you have the built in rails on the roof?
You can add this information, along with any other questions you have, where it says Add Comment.

I use it on my CRV to shoot photos from the roof. It’s great for that. A lot of wind noise and it cuts my gas mileage by about 9 to 10 mpg. Very solid. I wish they made a flat piece that would make a solid platform. I’ll need to fabricate that myself. If you are attaching things to it there are many anchor points and options for that. I really like it.

Is there anything that would increase the roof rack surface area bringing the rack more over the front of the roof but not above the hood? I also do not have crossbars but have the factory mounted rails on the roof.which crossbars would I need?
