Hey Robert, welcome back! The Dexter 010-036-00, our item # RG06-070, and the Timken item # TMK58ZR are functionally the same grease seal. Timken is known for using higher quality materials in their parts so they do cost noticeably more.

Both the item # RG06-070 and item # TMK58ZR have an inner diameter of 2.250" and a outer diameter of 3.376" and have a built in garter spring. A garter spring provides consistent, inward radial force to hold the rubber sealing lip tightly against the rotating spindle.

I recommend using the Grease Seals 10-36 (pair) item # RG06-070. These are reliable grease seals that are commonly included from the factory. While Timken has a reputation for higher quality materials you are mostly paying for the name.

What kind of trailer do you have?

Jerred, I have a MYCO triple axle steel boat trailer that I’m restoring. I’ve purchased a bunch of parts for it from y’all. Looking forward to installing the MORryde heavy duty shackle kit! Thank you for your reply on the grease seals. I’m concerned with seal quality because I purchased some at a trailer supply in Ft Lauderdale in March 2025 and after a couple of trips to various places in Fla., some of the seals were leaking a lot of grease out. When I removed the seals from the hubs and slide them up on the spindle journal, they were lose on the journal. As the trailer will be going in and out of the water, I want too make sure I have good seals. The trailer supply has been in business a very long time in Ft Lauderdale and said the seals were from Dexter. When I inspected them, I could not find DEXTER on them anywhere. Again, thank you for your reply!!

@RobertT Wow! That is a big trailer! What kind of boat do you have? You're welcome and thanks for sending in the question. The MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit item # MR58ZR is the top of the line replacement option. Those wetbolts make routine maintenance a breeze. From what you're describing it sounds like the seals either failed or were the incorrect size. You definitely don't want to encounter that issue again. The Dexter 010-036-00 is actually pn K71-305-00 and there's identifiers stamped into the sides along with Dexter's name. Our comparable seal item # RG06-070 also has manufacturer and sizing information stamped onto the sides so you're not going to be getting the same seals. If you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to reach out.

@JerredH, It’s a 41’ Apache powerboat. Yeah, the seals had 010-036-00 on the rubber part of the seal. 3 of the 6 hubs did not leak grease and were tight on the journals when i checked them. Hav’n a rare snow event here in NE Ga. today, so I can’t work on the trailer today!! Have a great weekend!!
