Question:
Hello, I have the CE Smith Multi Sport Plus Boat and Kayak Trailer, Part Number: CE48870. Will this wheel and tire combination be a direct plug and play replacement with no modifications required?

Hey Tom,
The Kenda Karrier # KE89EV you mentioned is a close size to the original on that CE Smith # CE48870 trailer, but it is not the exact same size. The Kenda # KE89EV is a larger tire size, but uses the same size rim and bolt pattern. The width and diameter of the tire is larger than the original on the trailer. The Kenda is 5.8" wide with a 21.4" outer diameter when inflated compared to the CE Smith trailer wheel which is a 4.9" width and 20.7" outer diameter.
Just by looking at the trailer you should have enough clearance for a larger tire but it may be worth measuring to make sure. Otherwise the bolt pattern and pilot diameter is the same so it would slide right on and bolt down. If you wanted an exact match for that trailer the replacement tire and wheel is the Loadstar # AM30670. This would be an exact replacement, same size tire as the original. Both would work well as long as you have that clearance.
What kind of boat or kayak are you hauling around with this trailer?

I made a very similar upgrade on my Yamaha Waverunner EZ Loader trailer. Going from a load range C bias ply tire with I believe a 65mph max speed rating to the load range D radial tires was huge. The trailer tows noticeably smoother with less bouncing and I frequent freeways so I'm much more comfortable with the 85mph speed rating. And the wheels look great! As long as you have the fender clearance (I have plenty) it's a no brainer upgrade in my opinion. Bogb
