Question:
What is the diameter of the threaded rod/hooks? How much tension does the spring loaded front system provide? I have a 2021 Lance 650 camper on a 2016 Ford F250 Super Duty 6 3/4’ bed, 4x4, 6.2L… I was using 3/8” 1000 lb turnbuckles to the bed posts and went over a speed bump and totally bent the 3/8” eye hook to where it disconnected from the camper: hence, my question about diameter of the hook and how strong it is

Hey Greg, thanks for the pictures. The HappiJac Original Turnbuckles for Camper Tie-Downs item # LC182898 have 1/2" diameter solid steel hooks. They provide 300 lbs of tension when the spring is compressed by 1/4" - 3/8".
These will be a solid upgrade over your current tie-downs. What brand are those?

These will work great for your truck and camper setup. I have an F250 with a full size Norther Lite truck camper on it. We’ve been over speed bumps, down rough desert roads, and potholed Forest Service roads many times in the past 7 years with these. No trouble, no bending. I even but the back wheel in a ditch one night trying to turn around, one of the front wheels was off the ground. Scary, and put a lot of torque on the truck, camper, and tie downs, but it was all fine (and luckily in 4-low we were even able to crawl out of the ditch). Only issue I have had with them is the two tie downs in back got corroded bad enough after 6 years of mostly winter usage that I couldn’t loosen them anymore. If you kept up better on oiling them a bit from time to time (unlike me) they’d probably last forever.
