Thule Square Bar Adapters for Ski Rack

Updated 01/28/2026 | Published 01/18/2026

Question:

What bolt kit is needed to mount these to the ski rack? I know it’s an M6 t bolt but having trouble finding the kit that’s needed. It also seems like there is a lot of wiggle room once these are places on my Thule square bars. Will the space become tight once these hardware is installed? I’ll be removing the current clamps off ski racks and installing the squares

Hey, Andrew!

What model of carrier do you have? I was comparing it to the racks that are compatible with the Thule square adapter part # TH8897 and they didn't look to be the same. If its not Thule SnowPack (part # TH7326B, part # TH7324, and part # TH7326) or the SnowPack Extender (part # TH7325 and part # TH7324B) it wont attach appropriately. That could be why you're seeing some movement but hard to know till I get confirmation.

The replacement M6 bolt that would be used is part # 853-208909.

Thank you for the reply. I have the Thule 450 Crossroad with LB50 load bars.

@Andrew I think I worded my question wrong or I may have been misunderstanding what was wobbling. Were you referring to the ski carrier wobbling or the adapter wobbling on the square bars?

@GwendolynY my apologies for confusion. I a referring to the wobbling of the adapter on the square bar. I tried to add a picture to show the open space between bar and adapter but it would not let me add more than one photo on original post. The square adapter on the square bar seems to have some wiggle room and does not clamp tightly.

@Andrew I think you also mentioned that you didn't have the t-bolt between the bar and the adapter. Once you have the bolt in there, it should eliminate the wobbling.
