Thule Snowpack Extender

The Thule SnowPack lets you carry up to 6 pairs of skis or 4 snowboards on the roof of your vehicle. It slides out over your roof to make it easy to load and unload your gear. This low-profile carrier adjusts to the size of your skis and snowboards and reduces the height of the carrier, with or without gear loaded. The system comes with 2 different sets of extensions, so you can raise the rack to accommodate skis and boards with tall bindings. Large push-button releases make loading and unloading the carrier a snap, even with gloves on.

Extends for Easy Loading and Unloading

Thule Snowpack Extender extending over car

The arms slide out past the side of your car. This makes it easy to load and unload without having to reach up over your car roof. Rotate the 2 hand knobs on the base of each crossbar clockwise to release the crossbars so they slide out. When you are done loading or unloading slide each crossbar back into its postion over your car's roof. Rotate the knobs counterclockwise to secure the crossbars in place.

Vertical Spring System

Thule Snowpack Extender vertical spring system

The SnowPack's smart vertical spring system gives the carrier a lower profile and improves aerodynamics. The spring system adjusts to the thickness of the skis or snowboards you're loading and only raises the top of the carrier as high as needed to secure your gear. Similarly, when unloaded the spring system reduces the overall carrier height.

2 Sets of Raisers

Thule Snowpack Extender risers

If you're carrying gear with tall bindings, and you're worried about damaging the roof of your car, the SnowPack has you covered. The system comes with 2 sets of T-track height extenders that raise the profile of the carrier. The raisers snap onto the bottom of the carrier and install in the top channels of your crossbars with T-bolts. The raisers can be used individually or together, depending on the size of the gear you're transporting.

Oversized Push-Buttons

Thule Snowpack Extender

The carrier opens with oversized push-buttons on the end of each arm. Because the buttons are large and release with a natural upward motion, you won't have any trouble releasing the arms, even when wearing heavy, winter gloves.

Ultra-Soft Rubber Liner

Thule Snowpack Extender rubber liner

The SnowPack is designed to safely and securely transport your skis and snowboards. The arms are lined with ultra-soft rubber that secures your skis and snowboards in place and protects your gear from being scratched or scuffed by the carrier.

SpeedLink Mounting System

Thule Snowpack Extender

The carrier installs with the SpeedLink universal mounting system, which uses rubber-coated stainless steel straps that wrap around your crossbars. Simply run each strap beneath the crossbar and hook them to the brackets. Then simply tighten the straps with the turn knob.

One-Key Security

Thule Snowpack Extender One Key Security

The SnowPack comes equipped with a complete One-Key lock cylinder package. The arms of the carriers lock to secure your gear to the carrier, and the mounting hardware locks to secure the carrier to your vehicle. And since all 4 cylinders are keyed alike you'll only have to keep track of one key for the entire system.

Video Transcript for Thule SnowPack Extender Ski and Snowboard Carrier Review

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the Thule snow pack extender ski and snowboard carrier, part number TH7325. The Thule snow pack extender is going to allow you to carry up to six pairs of skis or four snowboards when you go to the lodge. Some of the best features of it are its ability to slide out 15 inches to make it easy to install and remove your skis. This is really handy for loading and unloading. Simply lift the bars, push the levers forward and they slide right out. This will give you 15 inches of overhang off the side of your vehicle. This ultra convenient feature is unique to the Thule snow pack extender.

Once you've got it all loaded back up, it just as easily slides right back into place. Push the feet right back up. Included are two keys for locking down your skis and also for locking down your clamps. All four locks are keyed alike, so it's a one key system. The oversize push buttons make it easy to release, even when wearing thick gloves. Here on the inside, you'll have an extra thick, ultra soft rubber that will conform to your board, keeping it secure in place and prevent scratches.

This will prevent side to side movement and forward and backward movement. This will give you 29 and a half inches of usable carrying capacity. This is going to fit round, square, arrow, elliptical and most factory roof rack systems including, T slots. The clamps are going to include a rubber coated, stainless steel clamp that'll keep it nice and secure, and protect your roof rack system from scratches and abrasions. With the system installed, it'll add about six and a half inches to the height of your vehicle. If using the T slots instead of the clamps, it'll add about five and three quarters inches. The durable aluminum construction is going to be corrosion resistant and has a lifetime limited warranty. Now that we've gone over some of the features, I'll go ahead and show you how to install it.

We've already got the rear one installed here, so now I'll show you how to install the front one. Included in your Thule kit, you're going to get four T slot bolts, four pads for T slots, and you'll also get four clamps, depending on the style of roof rack you're going to use. There are two ways to install it. First we're going to show you how to use the T slot method.First, we'll take our pads here. It may come in the kit with the center square, not installed, that would just clip right into this outer square.

You'll see the hooks here. They snap into place right here. You'll want to line it up with the hole and do the same with the other side. We're now at the vehicle with our two T bolts. You'll need to remove the strip. Slide your T bolts into place. Get them about spaced far enough you can adjust them when you go to put the rail on. Then you would take the strip here after we've got it installed and cut it, filling in the empty spaces. But for demo purposes, we're not going to be doing that. Now back at your rail, you'll want to press the button, open it up, lay it down this direction. Only one side of this rubber will come out. That'll be the side that this lever tilts towards. Pull the rubber out. Now we've got our rubber strip off. You can see the opening for the nut. It's slightly offset, so you'll want to pull this lever forward and slide the rail down slightly. Now it's all lined up, so we can get our Allen wrench into the nut to tighten it onto the vehicle. Let's go place it onto the bars.Line up your rails with the holes in your pads and set her down. Then take your included Allen tool and just snug it up for now, because we're going to need to do this on both sides. We'll tighten it down completely once we've got everything started in place. To access the further in nut, you'll need to slide the rail completely out. Now you can tighten it down. Now just adjust it to the appropriate position and go back and tighten your nuts completely. Once they're tight, you'll push your rubber back into place. Make sure this is up. You can clamp it down and you're now ready to load up.Now we've completed the installation using the T slot method on this rail. Just complete the same process on the other rail. Now I'll show you how to install it to your crossbar using the clamp method. I find the clamp method to be easier. The installation for the clamps is fairly similar, however it's a little bit easier because you can install the clamps to the ski rack before we put it on the vehicle. You'll again remove the rubber. You'll align the threads with the hole here and get it started. Once you get it into position, you can snug it up using the same Allen nut that we used to tighten the T slots and tighten down your clamp. You'll then slide your rail out and repeat the same process using this nut and hole. With both clamps installed onto the ski rack, just push your rubber back into place. Make sure your gray lever is in the up position. Clamp it together and we're ready to put it on the vehicle. Just a note, it's easier to access on the vehicle if the locks are near each other. You may want to loosen up the straps before you install it so it fits more easily.Go ahead and set it into place. Run your straps over and clip them. Make sure it's lined up with your rear one. Now just tighten down your straps. Now let's go ahead and load up our skis. Now we can just lock it up and head to the slopes. That completes our look at the Thule snow pack extender ski and snowboard carrier. Part number TH7325.

Design flaw. The rack only slides well when it's warm and dry and empty. Weighted with skis or cold or snowy-- forget it. And its height on the mount bars makes it difficult to reach if you're under six feet tall. I'm sorry I wasted the money. 590168

According to our Thule representative, the fit between the sliding and the stationary portion of the skisnowboard carrier is by necessity fairly snug in order to prevent rattling. Because of this, and road grime or debris that has collected in the tracks can indeed make it difficult to slide the carrier. Thule recommends using a brush occasionally to clean the tracks and to lightly lubricate the tracks with spray lubricant.

These work great. They are not quiet, but rumble like the wind they create Due to their square shape.I sort of wish I had gone with a trailer hitch system for skis that could be detached, especially as I went for the aerodynamic bars in order to have a quiet rack system. The pull out feature is cool though, and they load easily. I had an idea, why not create a system where the ski attAchment could pivot 90 degrees down horizontal when not carrying skis — they are loudest when not loaded. They would be more aerodynamic and shorter profile all week until it’s time to go skiing. 587670

Review from a similar Thule SnowPack in Ski and Snowboard Racks

I purchased these ski racks (Thule SnowPack 6) a year ago (November 2017) and they been excellent. I live in CO and I make regular trips up to the mountains during the winter and these racks made a big difference with the ease of getting to the ski resorts. The SpeedLink system allows me to install or remove the racks on in just a few minutes, which has been nice because I took them off for the summer (and am about to put them on again in a few days). The racks seem to be well built and feel very sturdy, and don't show any signs of wear after one season (driving the entire winter with the racks on). They also securely hold your skis and snowboards in place and you will not have to worry about losing them on the highway (I've shook/rocked my snowboard with most of my weight while in was in the rack and it didn't budge). If you are a skier/snowboarder that makes multiple trips up to the resorts in the winter, I'd highly recommend these ski racks. 587977

Review from a similar Thule SnowPack in Ski and Snowboard Racks

Install was straightforward. Instructions were clear. The only thing you actually have to think about is measuring the cuts on the rubber strip that covers the channel on the top of the bar. I got this setup to carry skis up to the snow without having to fold down seats and listen to them rattling around for the whole ride. The carrier looks great on the car and does its job well. Had a few pairs of skis up there last weekend to test it out. The rack functioned perfectly and I didn't even notice any additional noise due to the rack or the skis. The carrier is very easy to operate even with thick gloves on. It has a very positive click when fully closed so you know it's all the way shut. Then, once you lock it, you're confident that the skis aren't going anywhere. 334779
