Question:

I am looking for a recommendation for a wireless camera system that I could use to monitor live the boat and what is behind the trailer when pulling the 21 ft boat. I would power the camera with a portable 20ah 12v portable battery and mount the camera at the back of the boat. I would also like it if I could use the camera to assist with backing up the trailer when backing into a garage. I would prefer a 7” monitor and camera that records. What do you recommend? Thanks

Hey John, welcome back! I have exactly what you need. I recommend the Furrion Vision S+ Wireless RV Backup System item # FR57AD. The monitor will be powered by a a cigarette lighter or a USB port. The camera requires a 12v-24v power source so your portable battery will be sufficient.

The Furrion Vision S+ Wireless RV Backup System item # FR57AD comes with a 7" monitor that has recording capabilities. It also includes a wireless backup camera that comes with its own mount. The camera offers high-resolution 1080p video, a wide 140° view with infrared night vision, motion detection, a built-in microphone, and adjustable park-assist lines.

Please note you will need to purchase a micro-SD card to utilize the recording function.

What kind of boat do you have?

Jared, Thanks for getting back to me. I am ordering a Skeeter WXR 1910F and want something to place at the back of the boat. Does the # FR57AD have live monitoring so that when I am driving at highway speeds I can see behind the boat. I have read that some systems have a lag because of the wireless communication. Does the monitor record or the camera? Where can I learn more about that feature? My Sequoia’s dashcam records in 2 minute increments and records over the oldest file. I can also use a 128b SD Card. Is this the same model as the Furrion Vision S®+ RV Observation System - 7" Monitor, Sharkfin Camera #FOS7HTASF system?

@JohnT You're welcome! That is a sweet boat! Congrats! Yes, it does. The Furrion Vision S+ item # FR57AD does indeed have live monitoring. Furrion states it uses 2.4 GHz tech that provides under 0.2 seconds delay. The monitor is what records not the camera. Once you insert the SD card you'll get an icon that pops up that allows you to record. You'll want to use a microSD card that is Class 10 or higher with a 128GB capacity. That is one of the part numbers associated with the Furrion Vision S+ item # FR57AD.
