Question:
We own a 2015 Ford Transit t250 medium roof van. We installed a Curt 2 inch trailer hitch. We need instructions to install wiring kit part C55774 which your site says is needed for a trailer. How do we confirm the wiring kit is correct for our van and how to install it ? Thanks

Hey Jason. The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package item # C55774 is only going to work if your 2015 Ford Transit T250 has the factory tow package. You'll want to look behind your Transit's rear bumper for a group of wires that has a connector like the picture I attached below. It may be covered in tape or shoved up out of the way.
If you do not have the tow package, you'll need the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness item # C56327, which will attach to the wiring harness behind your rear tail lights. This will provide you with a 4-way connector.
Once you get the 4-Way installed, you will also need the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller item # ETBC7. The kit includes a pre-wired 7- and 4-way trailer connector that mounts easily at the rear of your Transit with an included bracket. This kit is designed for use on a vehicle with an existing 4-way flat trailer connector and plugs directly into it.
You will then connect the blue wire to the blue wire on the brake controller, connect the black wire to the positive post on your Ford's battery, the white wire to a suitable ground, and the yellow wire to the accessory circuit. This will provide you with the ability to control your trailer's brakes and also provide you with a 12v power wire for you trailer's battery. This kit includes all the wiring, connectors, and circuit breakers you'll need.
I linked a couple of installation videos below so you can see where to find the connections and how to get these wiring harnesses installed if you don't have the factory towing package.
What kind of trailer are you planning on towing?

Hey Jason, how did things go with the wiring on your Transit after checking for the factory tow package? Knowing which harness ended up fitting could help others setting up a similar van. Your update could make it easier for the next person working through the same wiring options.
