Setting Up 2025 Crosstrek Wilderness To Pull A Small Tear Drop Camper With TowSmart Hitch

Question:
Can I tow a small tear camper with my 2025 Crosstrek Wilderness if I install the TowSmart hitch?

Hey Brianna, yes - your 2025 Crosstrek Wilderness is the only trim rated for 3,500 lbs towing, so it’s perfect for a lightweight tear drop trailer. The TowSmart # TS68ZR can handle more than that (4,500 lbs GTW, 675 lbs tongue weight), so it’s a strong match. Just stay within the Subaru’s own limit and make sure your trailer brakes are functional if it has those.
You’ll also need a 4-way wiring harness like # 119147KIT for your trailer lights, and a ball mount kit # 989891 will give you both 2 inch and 1-7/8 inch hitch balls so you’re ready for whatever coupler your camper uses.
What kind of camper is it? And is it already wired with a standard 4-flat connector, or does it have a 7-way plug? Usually those just need a basic 4 way like mentioned above. If you happen to need a 7 way, then let me know and I'll get you setup with the proper connection on the back, along with a brake controller!
