Is the 2-Ton Power Mountain Tallboy Off-Road Bottle Jack Strong Enough for a 8,000 lbs 5th Wheel?

Updated 11/17/2025 | Published 11/12/2025

Question:

Where as I know the Power Mountain 2 ton Jack is strong enough for my boat trailer 3500lbs. Is it strong enough for my 5th wheel which is 8000lbs loaded. Considering Ill only be lifting one side.

Definitely not, Jim. I recommend jumping up to the 6 Ton Power Mountain Tallboy Off-Road Bottle Jack item # PM34FR. This is an almost identical setup with a higher capacity jack and a bit longer of an extension. Price wise it's just a bit more but it'll be worth it for the extra capacity and safety.

The 6 Ton Power Mountain Tallboy Off-Road Bottle Jack item # PM34FR has a lifting range of 8-1/2" to 37-3/4". The baseplate measures 8" long x 7" wide x 5/16" thick. It comes with a really nice and durable carrying bag that's made out of the same type of material that those soft sided Dewalt contractor bags are made of.

What kind of boat do you have?

Thanks for the reply Jerred, I thought so much. I'll probably be purchasing the 6 ton shortly. My boat is a 2000 Glastron GX205.

@Jim You're welcome! The 6 Ton Power Mountain Tallboy Off-Road Bottle Jack item # PM34FR is definitely going to be the better option. Those boats are a lot of fun. My buddy used to have one way back in the day.
