Can I Upgrade 30 Amp Converter to 45 Amp in RV

Updated 12/01/2025 | Published 11/10/2025

Question:

I am upgrading my two lead acid batteries on a Weekend Warrior Toy Box to single 300ah lithium LiFePO4 battery. I would also like to upgrade the 20 year old Iota DLS-30 converter. Should I stay with the 30 amp converter or can I step it up? Would a 45 amp converter require changing the wiring? And what about fuses?

Hey Kirk, it would probable be best to stick with a 30 amp setup since you know you have the correct wiring for that amperage. If you bump up to 45 amp there's chance the wiring wouldn't be able to keep up and you'd melt some wires or worse. So I would go with the part # PD49RR.

Hey Kirk, how did the upgrade to the 30 amp converter go with your new lithium battery setup? Your results could really help others thinking about switching from lead acid to LiFePO4. Sharing what worked might guide others planning a similar upgrade.
