Absolute lifesaver.
Got quoted twice
the price of this unit (with overnight shipping!) by a local rv repair shop, for the part only plus an unknown amount of labor!
Overall it took me just under two hours to replace the converter and panel, taking my time and double checking everything. The instructions are absolutely amazing and spot on.
It saved my trip and my batteries. It also prepares me for the future when I switch to Lithium batteries.
My only small complaint is that the new screws on the outer panel are now metal instead of brown, but I just decided to not look in that direction ever again.

Wow, sounds like you powered through that repair like a pro Mike! Not only did you save your trip, you’re ready for the next step with Lithium batteries, talk about amping up your RV game! As for those screws, like you said, you won't be looking while you're charging ahead!

Still running flawlessly. I’m about to switch to lithium batteries, so this was the right choice to buy!

Recently, my wife and I have been experiencing battery issues with our motorhome. Thanks to e-trailer, I was able to determine I was having a charge issue from my converter. I ordered the PD4645 and followed the instructions. In less than an hour, I was upgraded and the system was back in full operation. I especially like the multistage charging based on battery condition. Job well done by e-trailer once again. A special thanks to Neil for providing

Glad we could get you back in action, Benjamin! I'll let Neil know he got you all squared away as well! : ) What kind of motorhome did you install this in?

Easy install and the replacement is working very well. However, not clear direction on lithium selection mode (it is not a switch but a tab that needs to be lifted off and moved to a new position). Install required a larger breaker and wire due to the added power of the charger compared to my old 45amp component. Knowing the possibility ahead of time would have been nice. Overall 2 days in I am happy with the unit’s performance and installation was way easier than I expected. I chose to replace the optional 12v panel.
The lithium selector location is in the second photo.

I am glad the installation was a breeze and it is working well for you. The Lithium selection should be a very small switch located around that second photo that needs to be flipped for that activation.

Fit like a glove in our 2010 casita replacing the original parallax 7500. Bought a new AGM battery and everything seems to be working fine. Ashley at etrailer was great to talk to and helped us get the right converter/charger(pd4645v). I’ve used this company before and they are excellent. The only reason I didn’t rate this experience five stars is we didn’t get manual/ instructions but we looked it up and utubed the installation process.

by:

Great item, it is exactly what I needed to power up the trailer. I phoned in and talked with Chris. I told him the unit I was looking at. His research got the unit I needed. Three days later it arrived. Upon opening the package I noticed there was no instructions or warranty paper work. I called again and Chris sent them by email. Great job Steve.

by:

Well I would probably like the converter if I knew it was charging correctly. Is it set for charging lead acid or my lithium ion battery? One can only guess. Mode button does what exactly? How do you know what mode it is in. I read some of the answers to these same questions asked by other customers and it seems as though nobody knows for sure. So you guys give me the number to Progressive Dynamics and when I call, it rings 10-15 times and goes to an automated voicemail. I left a message requesting information on how it works and nobody has returned my call. Kind of frustrating. I installed a different Progressive Dynamics converter in my travel lite camper 4 years ago that had a switch for either lead or Li. It’s a shame this one couldn’t have something so simple or come with directions on exactly how you operate it.

Hi Ben. The switch on the Progressive Dynamics Replacement Section # PD4645V will have "LI" and "WIZ". LI will be for the lithium iron batteries and WIZ will be for the lead acid batteries. It can be hard to see, but I included a link to a Q&A with a very clear picture you can check out.

by:

Easy to install and wire up. Clear instructions. Quiet and lighter than the original.

by:

Easy installation. Good instructions. Looks well made and fixed the power problems in my Roadtrek. Fast shipping and great customer service.

by:

Converter arrived quickly. Took me awhile to retro fit from old one but works great. Went from output of 4.4 volts to 13.6 volts with new converter. Would recommend product. Thanks

by:

Installed in my older 2002 Winnebago motorhome I like the fact that it bolted into the current enclosure and will make my batteries last longer.

by:

This converter is excellent, as is the customer service. I had some confusion about the wiring, which the etrailer tech was not able to address. He gave me the manufacturer contact, who spotted my problem from a quick picture of my install. With that corrected, the unit has been running without issue for over a month now. I replaced a 32-year-old converter and the first thing I noticed is that the lights have gone from dim/depressing to bright and cheery. I'm so glad I bought this unit from etrailer rather than the one made in China from [online].
Picture 1 is what I took out; Picture 2 is the new unit.

After one year, the unit continues to perform perfectly. I’ve no issues.

by:

I installed the converter in my 5th wheel. Following the written instructions and watching the video made it easy. I set it to charge my 300 ah lifepo4 battery, and it works perfectly.

by:

I found the converter to be very well built and easy to install as soon as I flashed it up it immediately fixed my trailer 12 volt issues.

by:

I replaced the original AC/DC convertir in our 2004 Roadtrek with a Progressive Dynamics PD 4645. The video that etrailer shares of this swap out along with the enclosed written instructions made it very doable. Great service and personal attention from William at etrailer.

by:

Converter is working perfectly. Thanks very much!

by:

Instructions were thorough and easy to follow. Also, I did not need any additional help from customer service. Great product, just installed today and seems to be charging up my batteries appropriately. Thanks etrailer !

@Brandon I expect the same for your new converter as well Brandon! What kind of camper did this go in? Any big adventures coming up in the near future?

by:

I upgraded my 2002 Lance camper to a lithium battery, which required replacing the factory converter to properly support the new setup. This Progressive Dynamics unit arrived on time and was well-packaged.

Installation was straightforward and very manageable for a DIYer with basic skills. The unit comes preconfigured for AGM/lead-acid batteries, and switching to lithium only requires moving a small jumper over one pin. That process is simple in theory, but the jumper is mounted facing inward, which makes it a bit difficult to see and access. It would be an improvement if the manufacturer either oriented the jumper outward or, better yet, used a small external switch for battery type selection.

I also didn’t notice clear instructions included for changing the battery type. I already knew what to do from prior research, but first-time users might find that step confusing.

So far, the converter appears to be working as expected. I haven’t had the chance to test it under real camping conditions yet, as the camper is still at home, but initial performance has been solid.

I agree, it is indeed more difficult that it needs to be, but I'm very happy to hear that you figured it out. Good job!!

by:

Best converter for your trailer. Battle Born recommends this because of the consistent voltage into the Lithium batter at 14.46.

by:

The product is great, and your service is even better. I was shocked at how quickly the power converter arrived. I cannot express how much I appreciate your excellent service. The packaging was very important too. It was heavily protected. Thank you for your great service and products. I'll be ordering again in the near future.

by:

I bought one that was a returned open package at a discounted price that was said to be checked out but the case was bent and i needed to fix it. other than that it is working great so far

The converter/charger potion of the power distribution center, which controls all the 110 and 12 volt electricity on my 20 year old enclosed car hauler died. I immediately assumed that I would have to replace the entire power distribution center. Then I thought that I might be able to find a converter charger and adapt it to my power distribution center as I often do I turn to Amazon and found nothing that would easily replace the existing Converter charger. Then I remembered etrailer a company with which I’ve had great success in the past and searched for the converter charger for my part number power distribution center. I was immediately given a listing for an updated replacement for the converter charger portion. It would a big improvement over the 20 year old technology in the existing converter/charger. etrailer had complete instructions on line, and installing it was well within this 74 year old’s capability. In addition it would be at my home in 4 days, with free shipping. It cost less the $100 more than a noncompatable unit that would be MUCH, harder install.
It arrived in 3days and installation was exactly as described online. It did require sitting on the trailer’s Fluor for about 5 hours total. In my younger days it would have been closer to 2 hours. The included directions were exactly what was on line, and were complete and completely accurate, among the best I’ve ever used. A couple of times I had to reread the instructions and take a second look at the project, but a Quick look made everything clear.
When the job was complete, and double checked I plugged in the trailer and turned on the battery switch. Evwerything worked and I noticed a blinking light that was not on my older one. A quick read of the operating instructions showed that the rate at which it was blinking indicated it was charging at a medium fate, and it will blink more slowly until the battery is fully charged, at which time it will blink even slower. My older unit never lowered the charging rate, which is hard on battery life.
I am very pleased with the converter/charger, and elated with etrailer!

Exact replacement for the Parallax power panel charger/controller in my Winnebago. Easy to follow instructions and all necessary hardware. Fast shipping and easy ordering process. Would definitely order from etrailer.com again.

by:

The power converter fit very well. It powered up right away and so far, no issues. We had an issue with one day delivery, but etrailer refunded the costs. I can only give etrailer 5-star reviews for all the excellent customer service we have had with our orders. Thank you for your excellent service and product availability.

Hi Rod. When something like this happens, it usually means there is a short circuit on the AC (120V) side. Either that or Hot/Neutral wires got reversed, the ground wire was not connected or wired wrong, the black (hot) wire touched ground or neutral, wired to wrong place in the panel (like main lugs instead of breaker), or the converter is defective. Double check the following: Black (hot) ? to AC breaker White (neutral) ? to neutral bar Green (ground) ? to ground bar If those are all correct and you do not see any frayed wires or obvious shorts, odds are it is a defective unit. I haven't seen this happen before, but it can. I would also suggest contacting Progressive Dynamics Tech Support as they can guide you through any other things to check. Their number is (269) 781-4241
