Question:
It’s my understanding that my 2025 Kia carnival sx prestige has a hitch tongue weight limit of 500 yet I found your discussion about having only 1000 towing capacity. Could that be? Anyhow, I want to carry my 420 lb power wheelchair with my van.

Hey, Sheri!
I’m happy to help with that!
After looking into your 2025 Kia Carnival, it’s rated to tow up to 3,500 lbs with a 350-lb tongue weight. You can double check those numbers on the sticker inside the driver’s side door jam, that’ll give you the exact specs for your specific vehicle.
We do have a hitch, part # e36KR, that is rated for 600 lbs tongue weight but you always want to go off the weakest link, which in this case is your Carnival.
Given that, your best setup would be to use a small trailer to carry your powered wheelchair. I know that might not be the perfect solution, but with your vehicle’s limits, it’s the safest and most reliable option.
To get everything connected, you’ll also need a wiring harness:
If your Carnival has LED lights, use part # C63RV
If it doesn’t, go with part # C32MJ instead

Hey Sheri, did you get a chance to check the towing and tongue weight ratings on your Carnival’s door sticker? I’m curious if that helped confirm the limits for carrying your power wheelchair. Sharing what you found could really help others looking at similar setups.
