Can EcoHitch EH66SR For 2025 Ford Mustang Mach E Carry 200 lbs Of Tongue Weight?

Updated 09/29/2025 | Published 09/07/2025

Question:

Ive seen some people online complain that the frame of their mach e has bent after carrying bikes on a hitch rack. The ecohitch looks like it has additional bracing that goes inside the frame. Would you have any concerns carrying up to 200 lbs rack and bikes on the ecohitch receiver? It would be a vertical rack like Alta racks or Velocirax to minimize the length of the lever arm.

Hello Andrew, thanks for reaching out. The EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # EH66SR has a 525 lb tongue wight capacity, so I have no doubt the hitch itself could handle 200 lbs without issue. That said, your Mach E will also have a specific towing/tongue weight capacity, and you will need to refer to your owners manual to verify this. Your setup is only as strong as the weakest component, and in this case that will likely be whatever the vehicle tongue weight capacity is. As long as you stay under that capacity, you should not have to worry about damaging the frame.

Hi Andrew, did you have a chance to check your Mach E's towing and tongue weight capacity in the owner's manual? I'm curious to know if the EcoHitch worked out for you, as it could help others with similar concerns.

The owners manual specifically states that the Mach E is not designed for towing and there is no factory hitch option in the US, so there is no information that I’ve been able to find about the tongue weight. I know the European spec cars are rated for towing, but I think it’s something like 150lbs tongue weight and 1500 Lbs towing.

@Andrew That is tough because it could be fine but I really can't give you a guarantee the 200 lb load would not cause any problems with the frame. If you end up doing it, I would just advise to drive cautiously and slow down going over any big bumps.
