Can Threaded Hitch Pin be Added to Thule OutPace Bike Rack?

Updated 09/29/2025 | Published 09/01/2025

Question:

Does this work to secure the Thule Pace 2 to the stealth hitches 2” I bought from you? If not, what are the options to have a redundant safety besides the expansion lever built in the Pace 2?

Hey Luis!

The auto-snapping pin on the Thule OutPace Bike Rack # TH39SA will prevent the use of a locking hitch pin like the Snug Tite # THSTL2, but that's not a bad thing.

This system that Thule uses on almost all of their bike racks is one of the best on the market, really. Once you get the anti-rattle device snugged up so the rack doesn't move, the bike rack is literally impossible to remove from the vehicle unless it's broken.

For extra security, you can use a cable lock like the Thule # TH538XT and discourage theft by wrapping it in and among the bikes and the rack.

Does that help you out with your security problem at all?

Hey Luis, Did the Thule cable lock work out for securing your bike rack? I'm asking because your experience could help others looking for similar security solutions.
