Is The Thule OutPace 2 Bike Carrier Stable Or Does It Have Wobble / Rattling?

Updated 08/15/2025 | Published 07/18/2025

Question:

How’s the stability on longer trips? I’ve had some racks wobble even with anti-rattle bolts. The potholes around here are no joke

The Outpace 2 Bike Rack for 1-1/4" and 2" hitches # TH39SA is rock-solid, Chris. It uses a hand-tightened locking wedge inside the hitch, which tightens the shank directly to your receiver, no tools, no rattle. This is much better than a standard anti-rattle bolt.

Combine that with staggered trays and rotating clamps, and you’ve got one of the most stable two-bike platforms we’ve tested. It’ll handle highway speeds and rough roads with ease.

I attached a demonstration video that shows how to use the anti-rattle device.

Hey Chris, how did the Outpace 2 Bike Rack work out on your longer trips? I'm curious if it handled the potholes and highway speeds as well as expected. Let me know, as your experience could really help others facing similar road conditions!
