Can 2025 Ram 2500 Short Bed Tow Fifth Wheel Trailer without Sliding Hitch

Question:

Hello I have a 2025 Ram 2500 with a 6’4” bed. I need a 5th wheel hitch. Should I go with the automatic sliding hitch or the gooseneck. I am concerned about the turning radius on my short bed truck while turning the 5th wheel RV,

Hey Peter, in general with a short bed truck you will need a slider hitch to make sharp turns but in recent years they have started making fifth wheel campers with more tapered noses and extended pin boxes to allow for short bed trucks to be able to make tight turns so some of the answer is based on what trailer you'll be towing. If you let me know below what camper you are getting I can check out it and see. If you are open to a gooseneck adapter solution that's pretty ideal since you wouldn't have to get out and mess with a slider or have to install/remove a heavy fifth wheel trailer.

We also have offset gooseneck balls like the part # C68ZV that fit your truck's OEM gooseneck hitch as well that will help with turning clearance.
