Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at Etrailer. Today we're gonna take a look at this CURT E16 fifth wheel trailer hitch with the S20 slider and it's for the Ram OEM prep package. Has a 16,000 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now, this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2013 and newer RAM 2,500 and 3,500 trucks with the six and a half bed. And as we mentioned, the OEM prep package on it.

And on a custom fit part like this, I do like to recommend for you to go to our website, use the fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle, and it'll show if this will work for your application. Now, this fifth wheel hitch is designed to mount in your truck bed so that you could tow your fifth wheel trailer. It's gonna convert your Ram OEM puck system to standard rails. And this part is compatible with kingpin extension boxes, including the common pivoting pin boxes. Wanna zoom into the head a little bit here.

This uses an auto locking slide bar jaw mechanism here, which will provide superior security. The rear tension bar right here, this will work with that slide bar to clamp around the kingpin, minimizing any rattle and movement. And right over here, if you notice, there's two tabs with holes in it. It is lockable. You can lock the handle so nobody can mess with your fifth wheel connection.

And it does require a padlock, which we do sell separately. Now, the slider that it's mounted on, it is a non-binding slider, provides clearance required for short bed trucks to turn safely at slow speeds. In other words, when you release this, it'll give you a travel of 12 inches front to back on the slider. So this is gonna prevent your trailer from hitting the cab of your pickup during sharp, slow speed turns. It'll automatically latch in both directions, so you only have to exit the truck once.

And it is designed for use on trucks with beds shorter than eight feet, and it is not recommended for use on truck beds that are shorter than six feet. So basically six to eight foot range. Now, the hitch head right here does have a four position height adjustment for multiple towing applications. It'll range anywhere from 14 inches to 18 inches, and that's measured from the truck bed to the top of the hitch head. So you just put it in the position it works best for your application. The dual pivoting head right here has a 10-degree lateral movement for simple hookup, has a nice anti-rattle skid plate, provides a nice smooth quiet ride. And they do require a nylon lube plate, which we do sell separately to help prevent scratches on this skid plate, and to let your kingpin glide smoothly into the hitch during hookup. Now, it is a simple installation with the included rail adapter right here. Basically what you'll do is drop this base, and what I'm gonna do is show you, we're gonna go to a different camera angle, but you can see on the corner of this base here has these handles here. So what you're gonna do is drop the base into your puck receivers, and the way you'll do that, on each corner, you'll take out the safety pin, turn this 90 degrees, and you'll notice that tab turns on the bottom there, tab it into the open position. You'll do that on all four corners. And once you get it open on all four corners, drop the space into your puck receivers in your factory-installed prep package. And then just turn this back, take your safety pin, patch it, keep it in place, you're ready to go. And again, you'll do that at all four corners. Now, this is a sturdy steel construction. Has a nice carbide black finish. Again, the gross towing weight capacity of 16,000 pounds. The vertical load limit or pin weight capacity is 4,000 pounds. And just briefly, I wanna show you how this head operates. We have an example. This is what a kingpin would look like on your fifth wheel. So what you're gonna do is just pull your handle out and you'll notice once you pull it out far enough, it locks into the open position and now you're ready to hook up. And when you go to hook up, your kingpin's gonna slide right in. And once it does that, it pushes on that tension bar and that releases that slide bar to come across and locks your kingpin in place. And as I mentioned, if you wanna lock it with a padlock, you could do that. But otherwise just like that, and you're all ready to go. Simple to install and simple to remove.
