Can The Camco Chair Rack for RV Ladders CAM51490 Be Used To Carry A Wheelchair?

Question:
I am looking to seecif there is way to transport a transport wheelchair on the back of my BT Cruiser 5255. Something like your Camco Chair Rack for RV Ladders - Steel Part Number: CAM51490. Will this cause damagevto ladder mounts over time? Wheelchair is lightweight, under 25 lbs. Or, preferably, you have something similar that can be mounted on spare tires which is on back of motorhome. Trying to avoid adding weight and length to motorhome, which has a tendency to hit bottom in back going over bumps and such.

Hello Perry, good question. The Camco Chair Rack for RV Ladders # CAM51490 should not damage your ladder over time. It may cause some minor scratches and scuffs but it has a vinyl coating that is made to protect the ladder from damage. It is made more for lawn chairs but if you can find a way to securely attach the wheelchair I could see this working for you. You would be well under the 60 lb capacity. Maybe a few bungee cords or some rope/straps would help hold things together during travel and keep it from wobbling around too much.
I am not aware of any mount for this that would use the spare tire. We do have other carriers that could work for a wheelchair, but they would all involve installing and using a standard 2" hitch receiver on the back of your motorhome.
Do you already have a 2" hitch on your motorhome? If so, are you currently using it for anything?
