Features to know about

Know Your Weight. Drive Safer.

In use photo of BTBRV 1K scale Close up in use photo of BTBRV 1K scale

Your trailer looks fine. Your truck's not squatting. But that doesn't mean your rig is safe! The Big Truck Big RV (BTBRV) 1K scale takes the guesswork out of loading. It reads your actual tongue weight, so you'll know if you're in that safe 10 to 15 percent zone. Too far back and you'll fishtail. Too far forward and you'll overload the hitch. This scale shows you where you're at before any of that happens. This isn't just about getting the load right. Your family's riding in that truck too.

Tested, Trusted, and JD Approved

JD's the guy behind Big Truck Big RV and he doesn't just slap his name on gear he doesn't use. He's been towing long enough to know what works and what doesn't. He's used this scale, trusted it, and loaded it up with his own family riding shotgun. This scale's been under real trailers and taken on real trips, not just a showroom floor. If it says BTBRV, it's been tested and used in the kind of conditions that separate the good stuff from the junk.

As a first time owner of a travel trailer, I’ve looked at various tools and equipment to help keep my trailer in good shape and ready to roll. After getting axle weights at a certified truck scale, I received a timely etrailer email about the BTBRV tongue weight scale. It is straightforward and safe to use, as I saw in an etrailer video. I now have a complete baseline weight for my rig, confidence in the overall loading, and will use the scale again for any loading changes on the trailer.

I received the BTBRV scale and padded stand but I have a question wasn't there supposed to be a carry bag that comes with the scale looking at the page where I ordered the 2 items from which I never received one, if you can let me know I would appreciate it.

The 1000 lb scale doesn't include a storage bag but the 2000 lb one which is part # BTBRV44FR does.

@MikeL thank you for letting me know I was hoping it would so it wouldn't get scratched or damaged as I'm carrying it in either my trailer or pickup, if one is offered I would like to purchase one.

You're very welcome, Randy! We don't have a bag specifically designed for it, but our # e22PR bag that I've linked for you would be large enough to accommodate both the jack as well as the snap pad. I hope that helps!

Got a new RV and wanted to measure tongue weight to make sure I’m in spec for my tow vehicle. Super easy and this will be very helpful for load and balancing without having to find a scale.

  • Fastway e2 Weight Distribution for 2025 Ford F-150 Towing Enclosed Trailer
Hello again Frank; tongue weight is typically 10-15% of your trailer weight. At 5,400 lbs you could go over the max 800 lb tongue weight of the # FA94-00-0800 but that probably isn't the case here. If you really want to be sure you could always pick up a small scale like the # BTBRV004 or # BTBRV99FR. Assuming you're in that 400-800 lb range this will remove that little bit of sag (sounds like it isn't a concern but it still helps) and cut down on your trailer sway. Regarding the shank,...

  • How Accurate is the 1,000 lb BTBRV Tongue Weight Scale
Hi Alex; the gauge on the Big Truck Big RV Tongue Weight Scale for Trailers # BTBRV004 has a +/- 5% full scale accuracy and displays weight in 20-lb increments up to 1,000 lbs. We also have it available with a SnapPad # BTBRV99FR. If you want something that is really easy to read you might also be interested in the B&W Digital Tongue Weight Scale # BW34KR. • Recommended Tongue Weight Scale for a 22" Tall Coupler Height
Welcome back Jim! The 1,000 lbs Tongue Weight Scale item # BTBRV004 is going to be the correct Big Truck Big RV scale for your 4,000ish lbs 2025 Casita 17' Spirit Deluxe trailer. You could also go with the item # BTBRV99FR which is the same 1,000 lbs tongue weight scale it just includes a snap pad. The issue with both of these is you're going to need to use some kind of lifting block because they are not adjustable. Even with the snap pad installed you're still going to be over 3" short...

  • Weight Distribution Hitch for 2017 Toyota Tacoma Towing 2021 Casita Spirit Deluxe
Hey Patrick! I wasn't able to find definitive specs for your 2021 Casita Spirit Deluxe but it looks like the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System # FA92-00-0450 is the best option. This hitch will do a great job keeping you level while cutting down on sway. Fastway is made by Equal-i-zer who is known for their high quality systems. The tongue weight of your trailer appears to be pretty low, almost certainly under the 450 lb limit of this system. However, it wouldn't hurt to measure your...

  • Is BTBRV Tongue Weight Scale for Trailers BTBRV004 Adjustable
Hey Tony! The Big Truck Big RV Tongue Weight Scale for Trailers - 1,000 lbs # BTBRV004 is not adjustable. It has a fixed height of 17-1/4". At that height, and the 1,000 lb capacity, you will be able to get a measurement on a lot of different trailers. The # BTBRV99FR with the SnapPad will add approximately 1" to that overall height along with the increased stability. If you're looking for an adjustable scale we also have the # BTBRV44FR (with storage bag) or # BTBRV27FR (with SnapPad)....

  • How to Find Weight Distribution Hitch For Trailer Towed With 2004 GMC Sierra
Finding the right weight distribution system will require knowing the loaded tongue weight of your setup. You can use a scale like the Big Truck Big RV # BTBRV27FR, # BTBRV99FR, or follow one of the methods outlined in the help article below. You can also get a good idea using the GVWR since tongue weight is typically 10-15% of the loaded trailer weight.
