Electric Over Hydraulic Brake Actuator To Replace A Titan Model 10 Surge Actuator

Updated 07/31/2025 | Published 07/30/2025

Question:

I have Kodiak 225 calipers on my 7000lb capacity boat trailer. I want to convert from the Titan Model 10 surge actuator to an EOH actuator. What psi actuator do I need? Thank you!

Hi Ian!

Disc brakes will need to have at least 1,600 psi from the actuator (drums are 1,000 to 1,200), so you will want to make sure whatever you go with is rated for that. With that said, I recommend the Hydrastar Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator for Disc Brakes - 1,600 psi # HS381-8067.

This has the 1,600 psi rating and has marine-grade gaskets and stainless steel hardware specifically for use on a boat trailer. And they are American made! I have had very good luck with people using them.

Do you already have a brake controller that can be used with an electric over hydraulic actuator? Not all of them can.

I have an integrated brake controller in my 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500HD and I have a Tekonsha 90885 Prodigy P2 Electric Trailer Brake Control in my 2001 Chevy Silverado. Will these work with the Hydrastar EOH actuator?

@IanM The Tekonsha P2 # 90885 definitely will and I am almost completely sure (like 99.8%) sure your factory integrated one will as well. You will need to change the mode to EOH and you will be good to go. I have heard a few issues with the integrated controllers on Chevy trucks still having issues from time to time, though rare, so it wouldn't hurt to also grab the Adapter Module for Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator - OE Ford, GM Brake Controllers # DX35FR as well. If you are planning on just using the P2 and swapping it between trucks though, you will not need that adapter module. You will just need the # 3064-P pigtail for the 2022 Silverado 2500HD so it can plug right in.
