Can Roadmaster Dual Hitch Adapter Be Used To Carry Bike Rack And Stowawa2 Swing Away Cargo Carrier

Question:

Hi - I have a stowaway2 swingaway with cargo basket but can not get the bike rack as it’s been out of stock. Can I use a high low hitch to connect a bike rack to one hitch and the swingaway to the other hitch? Or if you know or a bike rack that will work with my stowaway swingaway setup that would be even better. Thank you, Carol Please let me know know or

Hello Carol, thanks for reaching out. The Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter # RM-077-10 can be used to carry a bike rack and cargo carrier as long as your stay under the 400 lb tongue weight limit. Compatibility will also depend on the clearance between your bikes/bike rack and the top of the cargo carrier. The picture I included shows and example of what this would look like.

We do not offer a bike rack made specifically for the Stowaway2 swing away, but we may have an option for you. What kind of bikes do you have? How many do you need to carry?

@Carol Cool! The Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack # HLY84FR is a great option for that. It can work with virtually any bike weighing up to 80 lbs. So that covers mountain bikes and pretty much any e-bike. It has 7" of rise built into the shank which would help with clearance if you end up doing the dual hitch adapter like I mentioned above. Always keeping in mind the 400 lb tongue weight capacity for the adapter. Take a look at this video:
